Classroom News
Please send all zoo permission slips and money as soon as possible. Every afternoon this week the children will be visiting Mrs. Hurtados room (next door) for 20 minutes. She will be teaching them about historical figures. Some of the words we WORDS WE SPELLED THIS WEEK WITH OUR LETTER TILES: stopped, ponds, pockets, parents

Please do not worry too much about the word lists. I do not want you working on these more than 10 or 15 minutes a night. If your child can only learn 5 words a weekthat is fine or if more.even better! Word lists are only a small part of our reading plan. I would love for you to spend most of your time reading aloud to your child and having your child read to you. Sounding out words is a crucial skill also. You can practice sounding out words and using picture and sentence clues to figure out unknown words in a story. Most importantly it should be fun. We do not want to kill our childrens enthusiasm for reading.
