Mechanism of action and indications (Why med ordered) Prevent Peripheral Neuritis
Vitamin B6 deficiency, including poor diet, and or drug induced deficiency (isoniazid) Action: coenzyme that metabolizes protein, carbohydrates and fats. Vitamin B6 is involved in maintaining the health of the thymus, spleen, and lymph nodes that make WBCs. Vitamin B6 is essential to make hemoglobin which helps RBCs carry oxygen.

Common side effects


Paresthesia, numbness of the feet, perioral numbness and unstable gait.

Interactions with other patient drugs, OTC or herbal medicines (ask patient specifically) None that the client is receiving

Lab value alterations caused by medicine


Uric acid levels, renal, LFTs
