T.S. The United States planted the seeds of the conflict through their exploitation of Latin America for political and economic reasons. General Argument: The early introduction of the Rio Pact and Organisation of American States (OAS) had bound the Americas under a strict restriction of US dominance over their political and economic rights. The false pretention that USA had rights over Cuba had inarguably paved the way for a conflict of interest, through Castros reforms such as the nationalisation of US businesses and assets. USAs policies had inevitably injected a high possibility for future conflict to materialise.

T.S. The nature of USAs aggression through the introduction of a series of hostile measures to force the moderation of Castros reforms had expanded the conflict by indirectly involving USSR in the near future. General Argument: Castros nationalisation of USAs assets and lack of political cooperation had pushed for a change in USAs policy to one of aggression; one in which USA is determined to oust Castro. The change in policy resulted in a series of hostile actions including trade sanctions, Bay of Pigs and covert measures, such as ones introduced in Operation Mongoose. These measures backfired and ironically saw to the strengthening of Castros administration. USAs aggressive policies caused Castro to retaliate and seek help from USSR which eventually drew in the Soviets; expanding the nature of the conflict
