NOTICE TO USER: PLEASE READ THIS CONTRACT CAREFULLY. BY USING ALL OR ANY PORTION OF THE VISIX READER SOFTWARE (SOFTWARE) YOU ACCEPT ALL THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT, INCLUDING, IN PARTICULAR THE LIMITATIONS ON: USE CONTAINED IN SECTION 2; TRANSFERABILITY IN SECTION 4; WARRANTY IN SECTION 6; AND LIABILITY IN SECTION 7. YOU AGREE THAT THIS AGREEMENT IS ENFORCEABLE LIKE ANY WRITTEN NEGOTIATED AGREEMENT SIGNED BY YOU. THIS AGREEMENT IS ENFORCEABLE AGAINST YOU AND ANY LEGAL ENTITY THAT OBTAINED THE SOFTWARE AND ON WHOSE BEHALF IT IS USED. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE, DO NOT USE THIS SOFTWARE. IF YOU ACQUIRED THE SOFTWARE ON TANGIBLE MEDIA (e.g., CD) WITHOUT AN OPPORTUNITY TO REVIEW THIS LICENSE AND YOU DO NOT ACCEPT THIS AGREEMENT, YOU MAY OBTAIN A REFUND OF ANY AMOUNT YOU ORIGINALLY PAID IF YOU: (A) DO NOT USE THE SOFTWARE AND (B) RETURN IT, WITH PROOF OF PAYMENT, TO THE LOCATION FROM WHICH IT WAS OBTAINED WITHIN THIRTY (30) DAYS OF THE PURCHASE DATE. Visix and its suppliers own all intellectual property in the So ware. Visix permits you to Use the So ware only in accordance with the terms of this Agreement. Use of some third-party materials included in the So ware may be subject to other terms and condi ons typically found in a separate license agreement or ReadMe le located near such materials. 1. Denions. So ware means (a) all of the contents of the les, disk(s), CD-ROM(s), or other media with which this Agreement is provided, including but not limited to (i) Visix or third-party computer informa on or so ware; (ii) related explanatory wri en materials or les (Documenta on); and (iii) fonts; and (b) upgrades, modied versions, updates, addi ons, and copies of the So ware, if any, licensed to you by Visix (collec vely, Updates). Use or Using means to access, install, download, copy, or otherwise benet from using the func onality of the So ware in accordance with the Documenta on. Permi ed Number means one (1) unless otherwise indicated under a valid license (e.g., volume license) granted by Visix. Computer means an electronic device that accepts informa on in digital or similar form and manipulates it for a specic result based on a sequence of instruc ons. Visix means Visix Incorporated, a Georgia corpora on, 230 Scien c Drive, Suite 10, Norcross, GA 30092. 2. Soware License. As long as you comply with the terms of this So ware License Agreement (this Agreement), Visix grants to you a non-exclusive license to Use the So ware for the purposes described in the Documenta on. 2.1 General Use. You may install and Use a copy of the So ware on your compa ble computer, up to the Permi ed Number of computers. 2.2 Server Use and Distribu on. 2.2.1 Subject to the terms of this Agreement, you may install one copy of the So ware on a computer le server within your internal network for the sole and exclusive purpose of (a) pushing rmware updates to licensed Channel Players using Windows Terminal Services, no other server or network use of the So ware is permi ed, including but not limited to use of the So ware (i) either directly or through commands, data, or instruc ons from or to another computer or (ii) for internal network, Internet, or Web hos ng services. 2.3 Backup Copy. You may make one backup copy of the So ware, provided your backup copy is not installed or used on any computer. You may not transfer the rights to a backup copy unless you transfer all rights in the So ware as provided under Sec on 4 below (4. Restric ons). 2.4 Portable or Home Computer Use. This So ware is designed for specic mul -media and visual messaging applica ons. Users may not make a second copy of the So ware for his or her exclusive use on either a portable Computer or a Computer located at his or her home.

2.5 No Modica on. You may not alter or modify the So ware or create a new installer for the So ware. The So ware is licensed and distributed by Visix for viewing, distribu ng, and sharing media les. You are not authorized to integrate or use the So ware with any other so ware, plug-in, or enhancement that uses or relies upon the So ware when conver ng or transforming AxisTV les into other le formats (e.g., an AxisTV le into a TIFF or JPG le). You are not authorized to integrate or use the So ware with any (a) plug-in so ware not developed in accordance with the Visix Integra on Key License Agreement or (b) other so ware or enhancement to programma cally interface with the So ware for the purpose of (i) saving data locally (on the same Computer), except when allowed through the use of Document Feature(s) that have been ac vated using enabling technology from Visix, (ii) crea ng a le that contains data (e.g., an XML or comments le). 2.6 Third-Party Web site Access. The So ware allows you to access third-party Web sites (Third-Party Sites). Your access to and use of any Third-Party Sites, including any goods, services, or informaon made available from such sites, is governed by the terms and condi ons found at each ThirdParty Site, if any. Third-Party Sites are not owned or operated by Visix. YOUR USE OF THIRD-PARTY SITES IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. VISIX MAKES NO WARRANTIES, CONDITIONS, INDEMNITIES, REPRESENTATIONS, OR TERMS, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WHETHER BY STATUTE, COMMON LAW, CUSTOM, USAGE, OR OTHERWISE AS TO ANY OTHER MATTERS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO NONINFRINGEMENT OF THIRD-PARTY RIGHTS, TITLE, INTEGRATION, ACCURACY, SECURITY, AVAILABILITY, SATISFACTORY QUALITY, MERCHANTABILITY, OR FITNESS FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE WITH RESPECT TO THE THIRD-PARTY SITES. 3. Intellectual Property Ownership, Copyright Protecon. The So ware and any authorized copies that you make are the intellectual property of and are owned by Visix Incorporated and its suppliers. The structure, organiza on, and code of the So ware are the valuable trade secrets and condenal informa on of Visix Incorporated and its suppliers. The So ware is protected by law, including without limita on the copyright laws of the United States and other countries, and by interna onal treaty provisions. Except as expressly stated herein, this Agreement does not grant you any intellectual property rights in the So ware and all rights not expressly granted are reserved by Visix and its suppliers. 4. Restricons. 4.1 No ces. You shall not copy the So ware except as set forth in Sec on 2. Any copy of the So ware that you make must contain the same copyright and other proprietary no ces that appear on or in the So ware. 4.2 No Modica ons. You shall not modify, adapt, or translate the So ware. You shall not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise a empt to discover the source code of the So ware except to the extent you may be expressly permi ed to decompile under applicable law, it is essenal to do so in order to achieve operability of the So ware with another so ware program, and you have rst requested Visix to provide the informa on necessary to achieve such operability and Visix has not made such informa on available. Visix has the right to impose reasonable condi ons and to request a reasonable fee before providing such informa on. Any such informa on supplied by Visix and any informa on obtained by you by such permi ed decompila on may only be used by you for the purpose described herein and may not be disclosed to any third party or used to create any so ware which is substan ally similar to the expression of the So ware. Requests for informa on should be directed to the Visix Customer Support Department. 4.3 Transfer. You may not rent, lease, sublicense, assign, or transfer your rights in the So ware, or authorize all or any por on of the So ware to be copied onto another users computer except as may be expressly permi ed herein. You may, however, transfer all your rights to Use the So ware

to another person or legal en ty provided that: (a) you also transfer (i) this Agreement, and (ii) the So ware and all other so ware or hardware bundled or preinstalled with the So ware, including all copies, Updates, and prior versions, to such person or en ty; (b) you retain no copies, including backups and copies stored on a computer; and (c) the receiving party accepts the terms and condions of this Agreement and any other terms and condi ons upon which you legally purchased a license to the So ware. Notwithstanding the foregoing, you may not transfer educa on, prerelease, or not for resale copies of the So ware. 5. Updates. If the So ware is an Update to a previous version of the So ware, you must possess a valid license to such previous version in order to Use such Update. All Updates are provided to you on a license exchange basis. You agree that by using an Update you voluntarily terminate your right to use any previous version of the So ware. As an excep on, you may con nue to Use previous versions of the So ware on your Computer a er you Use the Update but only to assist you in the transi on to the Update, provided that: (a) the Update and the previous versions are installed on the same computer; (b) the previous versions or copies thereof are not transferred to another party or Computer unless all copies of the Update are also transferred to such party or Computer; and (c) you acknowledge that any obliga on Visix may have to support the previous versions of the So ware may be ended upon availability of the Update. 6. NO WARRANTY. The So ware is being delivered to you AS IS and Visix makes no warranty as to its use or performance. VISIX AND ITS SUPPLIERS DO NOT AND CANNOT WARRANT THE PERFORMANCE OR RESULTS YOU MAY OBTAIN BY USING THE SOFTWARE. EXCEPT FOR ANY WARRANTY, CONDITION, REPRESENTATION, OR TERM TO THE EXTENT TO WHICH THE SAME CANNOT OR MAY NOT BE EXCLUDED OR LIMITED BY LAW APPLICABLE TO YOU IN YOUR JURISDICTION, VISIX AND ITS SUPPLIERS MAKE NO WARRANTIES, CONDITIONS, REPRESENTATIONS, OR TERMS (EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WHETHER BY STATUTE, COMMON LAW, CUSTOM, USAGE OR OTHERWISE) AS TO ANY MATTER INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION NONINFRINGEMENT OF THIRD-PARTY RIGHTS, MERCHANTABILITY, INTEGRATION, SATISFACTORY QUALITY, OR FITNESS FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE. The provisions of Sec on 6 and Sec on 7 shall survive the termina on of this Agreement, howsoever caused, but this shall not imply or create any con nued right to Use the So ware a er termina on of this Agreement. 7. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY. IN NO EVENT WILL VISIX OR ITS SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY DAMAGES, CLAIMS, OR COSTS WHATSOEVER OR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, OR ANY LOST PROFITS OR LOST SAVINGS, EVEN IF AN VISIX REPRESENTATIVE HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH LOSS, DAMAGES, CLAIMS, OR COSTS OR FOR ANY CLAIM BY ANY THIRD PARTY. THE FOREGOING LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS APPLY TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW IN YOUR JURISDICTION. VISIXS AGGREGATE LIABILITY AND THAT OF ITS SUPPLIERS UNDER OR IN CONNECTION WITH THIS AGREEMENT SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT PAID FOR THE SOFTWARE, IF ANY. Nothing contained in this Agreement limits Visixs liability to you in the event of death or personal injury resul ng from Visixs negligence or for the tort of deceit (fraud). Visix is ac ng on behalf of its suppliers for the purpose of disclaiming, excluding, and/or limi ng obliga ons, warran es, and liability as provided in this Agreement, but in no other respects and for no other purpose. For further informa on, please see the jurisdic on specic informa on at the end of this Agreement, if any, or contact Visixs Customer Support Department. 8. Export Rules. You agree that the So ware will not be shipped, transferred, or exported into any country or used in any manner prohibited by the United States Export Administra on Act or any other export laws, restric ons, or regula ons (collec vely the Export Laws). In addi on, if the So ware is iden ed as export controlled items under the Export Laws, you represent and warrant that you are not a ci zen, or otherwise located within, an embargoed na on (including without limita on Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Cuba, North Korea, and Serbia) and that you are not otherwise prohibited

under the Export Laws from receiving the So ware. All rights to Use the So ware are granted on condi on that such rights are forfeited if you fail to comply with the terms of this Agreement. 9. Governing Law. This Agreement will be governed by and construed in accordance with the substan ve laws in force: (a) in the State of Georgia, if a license to the So ware is obtained when you are in the United States, Canada, or Mexico, (b) respec ve courts of Gwinne County, Georgia when Georgia law applies. This Agreement will not be governed by the conict of law rules of any jurisdicon or the United Na ons Conven on on Contracts for the Interna onal Sale of Goods, the applicaon of which is expressly excluded. 10. General Provisions. If any part of this Agreement is found void and unenforceable, it will not aect the validity of the balance of this Agreement, which shall remain valid and enforceable according to its terms. This Agreement shall not prejudice the statutory rights of any party dealing as a consumer. This Agreement may only be modied by a wri ng signed by an authorized ocer of Visix. Updates may be licensed to you by Visix with addi onal or dierent terms. This is the en re agreement between Visix and you rela ng to the So ware, and it supersedes any prior representa ons, discussions, undertakings, communica ons, or adver sing rela ng to the So ware. 11. Noce to U.S. Government End Users. The So ware and Documenta on are Commercial Items, as that term is dened at 48 C.F.R. 2.101, consis ng of Commercial Computer So ware and Commercial Computer So ware Documenta on, as such terms are used in 48 C.F.R. 12.212 or 48 C.F.R. 227.7202, as applicable. Consistent with 48 C.F.R. 12.212 or 48 C.F.R. 227.7202-1 through 227.7202-4, as applicable, the Commercial Computer So ware and Commercial Computer So ware Documenta on are being licensed to U.S. Government end users (a) only as Commercial Items and (b) with only those rights as are granted to all other end users pursuant to the terms and condi ons herein. For U.S. Government End Users, Visix agrees to comply with all applicable equal opportunity laws including, if appropriate, the provisions of Execu ve Order 11246, as amended, Sec on 402 of the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974 (38 USC 4212), and Sec on 503 of the Rehabilita on Act of 1973, as amended, and the regula ons at 41 CFR Parts 60-1 through 60-60, 60-250, and 60-741. The arma ve ac on clause and regula ons contained in the preceding sentence shall be incorporated by reference in this Agreement. 12. Compliance with Licenses. If you are a business or organiza on, you agree that upon request from Visix or Visixs authorized representa ve, you will within thirty (30) days fully document and cer fy that use of any and all So ware at the me of the request is in conformity with your valid licenses from Visix.
13. Specic Excepons.

13.1 You are required to take all reasonable measures to avoid and reduce damages, in par cular to make backup copies of the So ware and your computer data subject to the provisions of this Agreement. 13.2 Prerelease Product Addi onal Terms. If the product you have received with this license is pre-commercial release or beta So ware (Prerelease So ware), then the following Sec on applies. To the extent that any provision in this Sec on is in conict with any other term or condi on in this Agreement, this Sec on shall supersede such other term(s) and condi on(s) with respect to the Prerelease So ware, but only to the extent necessary to resolve the conict. You acknowledge that the So ware is a prerelease version, does not represent the nal product from Visix, and may contain bugs, errors, and other problems that could cause system or other failures and data loss. Consequently, the Prerelease So ware is provided to you AS-IS, and Visix disclaims any warranty

or liability obliga ons to you of any kind. WHERE LIABILITY CANNOT BE EXCLUDED FOR PRERELEASE SOFTWARE, BUT IT MAY BE LIMITED, VISIXS LIABILITY AND THAT OF ITS SUPPLIERS SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE SUM OF FIFTY DOLLARS (US$50) IN TOTAL. You acknowledge that Visix has not promised or guaranteed to you that Prerelease So ware will be announced or made available to anyone in the future, Visix has no express or implied obliga on to you to announce or introduce the Prerelease So ware, and that Visix may not introduce a product similar to or compa ble with the Prerelease So ware. Accordingly, you acknowledge that any research or development that you perform regarding the Prerelease So ware or any product associated with the Prerelease So ware is done en rely at your own risk. During the term of this Agreement, if requested by Visix, you will provide feedback to Visix regarding tes ng and use of the Prerelease So ware, including error or bug reports. AxisTV Hardware Warranty and Software Support

Visix, Inc. warrants the hardware and so ware components of AxisTV. This is a non-transferable, limited warranty that extends only to the original user of the system. Users should not confuse Hardware Warranty with the So ware Maintenance and Support Agreement (SMA). For complete hardware warranty and SMA informa on, users should consult www.visix.com. Obtaining Technical Support Visix DOES NOT provide on-demand telephone support. The only excep on to this policy applies to Service Level Agreement (SLA) clients. It is important to read this sec on since most deployment issues can be avoided if the following items are considered. Image Reten on Firewall Protec on Network Se ngs

3.1

Image Retention

Video displays, par cularly plasma displays, are subject to image reten on or burn-in. This occurs when the image on all or a part of the display stays constant for an extended period. Dierent displays are aected dierently and technology is improving, so there are no absolute condi ons that prevent burn-in. AxisTV gives the user exibility to create and display a variety of video images. Since Visix does not control the content that is being displayed, Visix is not responsible for image reten on on devices connected to the AxisTV System. To minimize the possibility of image reten on in an AxisTV System, Visix recommends the following: Never have a single bulle n running alone. Always have mul ple bulle ns ac ve. Use a variety of backgrounds and text colors. Avoid company logos or other images in the same posi on on every bulle n. When using manual Show Time se ngs, keep the mes as short as possible. Use text crawls sparingly Use built-in orbi ng tools if available on the display Occasionally use image inversion and or white tools if available on the display

3.2

Firewall Protection

All computers need protec on from intrusion and other malicious or mischievous ac vi es. AxisTV is built on Microso Windows and uses Microso s Internet Informa on Services. Both of these are frequent targets for malicious or mischievous a acks. It is strongly recommended that all AxisTV devices, and especially Content Manager/Servers be protected from the Internet and where applicable from local trac.

3.3

Network Settings

Your AxisTV system has very specic requirements regarding networking and security se ngs. Before making any changes to the factory congura on, be sure you have read and understand the sec ons of this document that refer to the changes you intend to perform. Pay par cular a en on to changing the name of any device and with making any Windows security se ngs changes. Be sure to read the System Overview.

AxisTV System Overview

AxisTV Digital Communica ons So ware allows you to create dynamic content using dierent types of data inputs such as text, graphics, and event schedules for delivery on a wide variety of devices including at panel displays, LCDs, interac ve room signs and web pages.

4.1

A Basic AxisTV System

AxisTV has specic hardware requirements and needs access to your organiza ons network for maximum func onality. The basic components of an AxisTV Digital Signage System include at least: One (1) Content Manager with AxisTV Content Services So ware installed One (1) or more Media Player(s) with the AxisTV Channel Player So ware installed One (1) or more Display(s) WAN/LAN and/or Internet access

4.2

How AxisTV Works

The PCs on the le side of the Sample System Diagram represent you accessing the Visix Content Manager using a web browser via the network (LAN/WAN) or the Internet. A Content Manager is a computer or server on an organiza ons network with the AxisTV Content Manager So ware installed. It hosts the browser-based user interface that is used to create and manage message content. The Content Manager connects to the Media Player(s) through the TCP/IP network. A Media Player, also known as a Channel Player, is another computer on your network that sends the content that you create to the display(s). Several displays can be served by a single Media Player; therefore, if there are mul ple displays connected to a specic player, all of those displays will show the same content at the same me. Depending on addi onal hardware and so ware components that are installed and ac ve in the system, AxisTV also may accommodate video from satellite, cable, and/or video streams.

4.3

Simple Content Management

AxisTV uses a simple content management system. Various types of data are used to create messages and ckers. Messages are scheduled to playlists. Tickers are scheduled to crawllists. Playlists and crawllists are organized into layouts that appear on the display(s). Layouts can be created and scheduled to accommodate a variety of playlists and crawllists. As messages and ckers are created, changed, and removed, the content that displays in the layouts changes accordingly.

Supported Browsers

Internet Explorer (IE) is the recommended browser for accessing AxisTVs web interface. AxisTV has been developed for and tested on current versions of Internet Explorer. AxisTV also is compa ble with the Firefox web browser. There are three features in AxisTV that require Firefox add-ons to func on properly: previewing QuickTime les previewing Windows Media Player les the le download/run op on

The QuickTime plugin is required to preview QuickTime les in Firefox. QuickTime will automa cally install the plugin when it is downloaded. QuickTime version 7.7 or higher is required. The QuickTime installer is available and included with the AxisTV so ware. Or you can visit h p://www.apple.com/ quick me/download/ to download QuickTime. The Windows Media Player plugin is required to preview Windows Media Player les in Firefox. By default, Firefox automa cally saves downloads to the computer hard drive. An extension is available through Firefox add-ons that will add the Run op on. To access the add-on: 1. Launch Firefox 2. 4.7

Network Requirements

The network must be capable of suppor ng the TCP/IP protocol. All AxisTV devices will need a sta c iden ca on or support for dynamic iden ca on (DNS, WINS, NetBIOS, sta c IP, DHCP, etc.). The Content Manager/Server will func on as an independent server on the network and its network role is to act as a Web server and to host the AxisTV applica on 4.7.1 Network Port Usage

Many organiza ons have policies dening acceptable congura ons for computers connected to their internal network. The applica on of security policies to the AxisTV devices without considera on of the eects of those changes could result in the failure of the AxisTV system. Failure of the system due to such changes might require rebuilding the opera ng system and/or AxisTV. Those repairs would not be covered by your warranty or so ware maintenance agreement and for hardware purchased from Visix, might require the return of the hardware to the factory. Your AxisTV system can be made to sa sfy your organiza ons security requirements. Visix will assist you when making decisions necessary to meet those requirements. The following items are required to be present and in good working order for AxisTV 8.x.x to func on correctly: Windows OS. The content manager so ware can run on Windows 7 or Server 2008. The channel player so ware can run on Windows 7. If hardware is purchased from Visix, Windows Embedded OS may be used. Internet Informa on Services, including the anonymous IUSR_[computername] user account Microso .NET Framework version 4.0 for the Content Manager/Server and for the Channel Players, including ASP.NET for Internet Informa on Services SQL Express 2008 running in MIXED MODE is required for the Content Manager/Server. Clients upgrading from a previous version may con nue to use SQL or SQL Express 2005. Windows user account named axistvuser with the password set to TechTech1!, which must be a member of the local Administrators group Cau on should be taken when applying security changes. The following areas are of par cular concern: Internet Informa on Services must be able to run the ASP.NET worker processes Microso .NET Framework congura on se ngs (under the Windows installa on directory) must be accessible by the framework components, including ASP.NET. The Windows user account axistvuser must not be denied access to the registry or the HDD

The Windows user account for Internet Informa on Services IUSR_[computername] must have write access to the \AxisTV\Web\ subdirectories Backgrounds, Bin, Previews, Public\Images, and BinaryStorage It is possible that other changes that might be made could cause other unexpected consequences. A thorough understanding of the Windows opera ng system, SQL Server 2008, Internet Informa on Services and the .NET Framework is required to properly and safely apply security changes to your AxisTV system. 4.7.3 AxisTV Windows Accounts

AxisTV requires local administrator accounts to operate correctly. The Content Manager requirea a local administrator account for certain services to run correctly. 4.7.3.1 AxisTV User Account Network Rights

In order for the AxisTV so ware to read, import or otherwise reference les that are external to the AxisTV servers, e.g., Dean Evans and Associates EMS Professional database, you must ensure that the user account assigned to all the AxisTV Windows Services is granted access on all relevant networked servers and PCs. The Windows Services that use a named account are: AxisTV Content Manager/Server AxisTV Dean Evans EMS Adapter AxisTV Delphi Adapter AxisTV Email Plug-in AxisTV Event Schedule Plug-in AxisTV Event Schedule Text Adapter AxisTV Na onal Weather Service Adapter AxisTV Screen Saver Plug-in AxisTV Screen Saver Server AxisTV Stock Plug-in AxisTV Stock Text Adapter AxisTV Weather Plug-in

All of these services require a named user account that is a member of the local Administrators group on the AxisTV servers. The named account can be a local account or a Domain account. In its simplest form crea ng an account on the network resource with a username of axistvuser and a password of TechTech1! and gran ng that account access to the desired les can achieve these requirements. This account matches the default account on all AxisTV servers. You can test access to a le share from the AxisTV server by logging in as the named user and a emp ng to access the le share with Windows Explorer. 4.7.3.2 Windows login account and/or password change procedure

As men oned above, several of the AxisTV services use named accounts to operate. This means that if you desire to change the account name or the password for this account, it must be changed in several places. This only applies to Content Manager/Servers, not a Channel Player. Create the new account or change the password of the axistvuser account. For a new account go to Start | Se ngs | Control Panel | Administra ve Tools | Local Secu-

rity Policy | Local Policies | User Rights Assignment. Grant the new user account the Log on as a service policy in the Local Policy Se ngs (or the Domain Policy Se ngs). Go to Start | Se ngs | Control Panel | Administra ve Tools | Services. The le -hand column shows the names of the services. The AxisTV service names all begin AxisTV. If you sort the services window by name (default) then all of the AxisTV services will be grouped together. The right-hand column, Log On As, indicates the account that each service operates under. Locate all of the AxisTV services that do not log on as Local System. These must be modied. For each service iden ed above, go to Proper es for that service and select the Log On tab. This account: will be checked (If it is not then you selected an incorrect service). Enter the new account and/or password and conrm the new password. Reboot the server. Workgroup or Domain

4.7.4

You may choose to make the server a member of your network domain or workgroup. This is not required for opera on of the system, but may be desirable from a network administra on perspec ve. Contact your network administrator for instruc on on adding the server to your local networking environment if this is desired. It is important to note that group policies applied to domain computers may render AxisTV inoperable or to have degraded behavior. AxisTV machines must not be considered desktop machines for the purposes of security policies. Domain group policies must carefully considered before applica on to AxisTV. 4.7.5 Windows Updates

Visix recommends applying all cri cal patches and service packs. Moreover we stand behind the opera on of the system a er an update. Should any Windows update adversely aect the opera on of the AxisTV system Visix will immediately work to resolve the problem. Hardware purchased from Visix ships with Automa c Windows Updates disabled. This is because the behavior of the Channel Players cannot be guaranteed during and a er an update. For the same reason your organiza on should use care in developing a plan to push updates down to these machines. 4.7.6 Security Policy

The Security Policy screen in the web user interface allows you to set the security parameters for the AxisTV installa on. The security policy covers password rules, intrusion rules and new account rules. All changes on this screen take eect immediately. Changes to password rules may require you to adjust your password immediately to comply with the new rules. When a user logs in their password is checked against the exis ng password rules and forced to change their password if it no longer meets the valid password criteria. Minimum Length - The minimum length a password can be. This value must be large enough to accommodate rules such as upper/lower case and inclusion of numbers and special characters. The system will validate this number against the other rules before applying any changes. Maximum Length - The maximum length a password can be. Automacally Expires In - The number of days that a password is valid.

Enforce Password History - The number of passwords to remember to enforce uniqueness. This feature prevents a user from reusing the same password when it expires. Require Upper and Lower Case - If checked, this will require that all passwords contain at least one lower case le er and one upper case le er. The implica on of this rule is that Minimum Length cannot be below 2, if specied. Numbers Count - The number of numeric digits required. This number aects the Minimum Length, if specied. Special Characters Count - The number of non-alphanumeric characters required. This includes punctua on marks and all other symbols on the keyboard. This number aects the Minimum Length, if specied. Lockout Threshold - The number of bad login a empts required to lock a user out of the system. Lock-Out Time span - The number of minutes to lock a user out of the system a er the Lock-Out Threshold has been reached. Default Password - The password to assign to all new users. Expires at First Login - If checked, the system will force all new users to change their password upon rst login. Visix recommends this behavior as the Default Password, by nature, is not secure.

4.8.1

PowerPoint Compatibility
Import PowerPoint (Native Playback)

Users can import a .ppt or .pptx le directly to the channel player for playback of PowerPoint in its na ve mode. This will require PowerPoint 2007 or 2010 to be installed on every channel player where the na ve PowerPoint will be shown. If a channel player does not have PowerPoint installed, the presenta on will be skipped in the playlist. PowerPoint is being used to play na vely on Channel Players and therefore exhibits the same func onality. Presenta ons must be congured for non-human interac on for correct performance of both PowerPoint and its use with AxisTV. The guidelines are as follows: PowerPoint must be installed by choosing Custom Installa on and selec ng Run all from My Computer for Microso Oce PowerPoint, Oce Shared Features and Oce Tools. Please refer to the instruc ons How to install PowerPoint on the Media Player (Channel Player) below. PowerPoint is played as a presenta on (slide show) on the Channel Player (provided that you have already installed PowerPoint on the machine). Therefore, the Advance Slide op on found under the Transi ons tab should be set with On Mouse Click checked and A er (or Automa cally A er: depending on what version of PowerPoint you have) unchecked. This allows for automa c playback of presenta on. Time between slides is handled by AxisTV on the Scheduling Page. If you do not wish for all slides to play at the same me interval, they must be imported separately. Custom Anima ons are supported. Under the Timing tab The Start: must be set to either A er Previous or With Previous. You cannot schedule the same powerpoint le to play simultaneously on a single channel player.

Error no ca on will need to be disabled on each channel player that will play PowerPoint in order for na ve playback of PowerPoint to work properly. This will not prevent any errors from being logged, only prevents the no ca on from popping up on the screen if an PowerPoint presenta on ends abruptly during a layout change or if the player is shut down. Disabling Error Repor ng No ca on for Server 2008 or Windows 7: 1. Click Start then Run 2. Type gpedit.msc and click OK 3. Locate the Windows Error Repor ng menu 4. Display Error No ca on should be set to Disabled 5. Congure Error Repor ng should be set to Enabled 6. Restart the computer If installing a stand-alone version of PowerPoint on a Channel Player, simply install the so ware provided on the disk. If you are using a Microso Oce installa on disk (bundled so ware), you will need to perform a custom install. A er selec ng to perform a Custom Installa on, select the following programs in their respec ve check boxes: Microso PowerPoint, Oce Shared Features, and Oce Tools. You will need to select Run all from my computer and deselect all other Microso Oce products. NOTE: Selec ng the complete installa on op on during install will require you to uninstall PowerPoint and reinstall the applica on using the custom installa on op on. To uninstall PowerPoint: 1. Go to: Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel 2. Find Microso Oce in the applica ons list 3. Select the Change op on 4. Use the custom installa on instruc ons listed above.

3. AxisTV Channel Player Ini al Setup a. Power on the AxisTV Channel Player using the power switch on the front of the unit (and the monitor) b. Software Only Installation Content Manager

Visix has provided the following guidelines to help successfully implement your AxisTV system. Please read and understand the following informa on before beginning the AxisTV Content Manager so ware installa on.

6.1
6.1.1

Prerequisites
Hardware Environment

See System Overview sec on of this manual for hardware requirements. 6.1.2 Virtual Machine

AxisTV Content Manager So ware can be installed on a virtual machine, the minimum hardware requirements need to be dedicated to the server instance where AxisTV will be installed. 6.1.3 Hardware ID for Licensing

Email the Volume ID of the C: Drive of the Content Manager to so wareupdate@visix.com, and Visix will send your AxisTV licenses via email. To nd the Volume ID, open a Command Prompt on the Content Manager, type dir and press Enter. Record the Volume Serial Number, an eight digit number including both le ers and numbers, in the format: XXXX-XXXX. 6.1.4 6.1.4.1 Software Environment Microsoft Windows Operating System

Windows 7 Professional or Windows Server 2008 32-bit or 64-bit. The AxisTV Content Manager so ware is designed to be installed and operated on a dedicated server. Sharing system resources with other applica ons can cause system performance issues and is therefore not supported. When installing the AxisTV Content Manager so ware on a clean operating system, the installa on should be run against a local administrator account to ensure the properes and services will be installed correctly. Once the installa on of AxisTV Content Manager so ware is completed, users can add the Content Manager to a domain. Security policies should be applied one at a me and tested for any conicts. The use of Standard images for larger clients has proven to be problema c and should be avoided whenever possible. 6.1.4.1.1 Windows Updates

Apply all the latest important Windows Updates before installing the AxisTV Content Services so ware. Windows op onal updates are not recommended. 6.1.4.1.2 Service Account

The following local Windows account is required on the Content Manager as a service account to allow AxisTV services to run with privilege: Name: AxisTVUser Password: TechTech1! Member of the local Administrators group only

Once the AxisTV Content Manager so ware has been successfully ini alized, a new service account may be created and applied to the services. The service account must be a member of the local Administrators group and must be granted the Log on as a service permission. In Windows, navigate to the Users sec on under Local Users and Groups found in Server Manager | Congura on or Computer Management, depending on your OS. Perform the New User ac on and create the new user, as follows: 1. User name: AxisTVUser 2. Full name (op onal): AxisTV User 3. Descrip on (op onal): Account for all AxisTV Services requiring Privileges 4. Set Password and Conrm password to: TechTech1! 5. Deselect User must change password at next logon 6. Op onally (but best prac ce if this will be the permanent service account) select Password never expires. 7. A er crea ng the new AxisTVUser user, open the Proper es dialog for it and select the Member Of tab 8. Add the user to the local Administrators group and remove it from the (lower-privileged) local Users group 9. Save the changes and restart the AxisTV Content Manager 6.1.4.2 Microsoft .NET Framework

Microso .NET Framework versions 3.5.1 and 4.0 are required. For convenience, the Microso .NET Framework 4.0 installer is bundled with the AxisTV installer and will run if .NET 4 is not already present on the server. Ensure all important Windows Updates related to .NET Framework are applied before a emp ng to install the AxisTV so ware. 6.1.4.3 Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)

Microso Internet Informa on Services (IIS) is required to host the AxisTV Web interface. It should be installed a er .NET Framework 4.0, and must be installed with all updates applied prior to installing the AxisTV so ware. IIS is included with the Web Server role in Windows Server 2008, and is an op onal Feature of Windows 7. NOTE: IIS on Windows 7 is limited. 1 When the system has 5+ media players and/or 10+ users, a Microso Server opera ng system is strongly recommended.

6.1.5 Microsoft SQL Server

Microso SQL Server 2008 (or op onally, 2005) Express or greater is required. The following SQL Server congura ons are required for AxisTV: SQL Server must be installed with the default instance of MSSQLSERVER. The local Windows user account, AxisTVUser, (member of the local Administrators group) must be able to authen cate and connect to SQL Server Database Engine via Windows Authen ca on. Best prac ce is to install SQL Server while logged in as this account. SQL Server Database Engine must be set to SQL Server and Windows Authen ca on mode (Mixed Mode Authen ca on)

For convenience, the SQL Server 2008 Express installer is bundled with the AxisTV Content Services installer. If the SQL Server default instance name MSSQLSERVER is not detected on the Content Manager when the AxisTV Content Services installer runs, it will a empt to install SQL Server 2008 Express and properly congure it for AxisTV. Apply all important Windows Updates related to SQL Server prior to installing the AxisTV so ware. 6.1.6 6.1.6.1 Network and Security Environment Network Identi ication and Resolution

The AxisTV Content Manager requires a sta c network iden ca on (DNS, WINS, NetBIOS, sta c IP, etc.). It must be able to resolve the network iden ca on of AxisTV devices (Channel Players, Room Signs, etc.), machines running AxisTV so ware (Desktop Messenger clients, Screen Saver clients, etc.) and network resources as congured in the product. 6.1.6.2 Firewalls

Network and PC rewalls must be congured to allow communica on between the Visix components, AxisTV so ware and Visix publishers (Desktop Messenger, Screen Saver, and RSS). 6.1.6.3 Proxy Servers

A proxy server can be used with the AxisTV Content Manager So ware. If authen ca on is required, the AxisTV service account must be given permission to access the Internet. 6.1.6.4 Domain and Group Policies

AxisTV devices are not required to be on a domain. If considering joining AxisTV devices to a domain, it is important to note how group policies can impact the opera on of the AxisTV so ware. O en, group policies will render AxisTV inoperable or cause the system to have degraded performance. AxisTV devices should not be considered desktop computers when applying security policies. It is the customers responsibility to understand this informa on and not to apply policies that will prevent the AxisTV so ware from opera ng in the local environment. Visix strongly suggests joining AxisTV devices to a domain and adding group policies a er the AxisTV system has been successfully deployed and is opera ng as expected. Then apply the policies one at a me, tes ng the impact of the applied policy on the AxisTV func onality. Please consider crea ng an image of the machine as a backup before applying policies.

6.2
6.2.1

AxisTV Content Services Software Installation Procedure


AxisTV Installers AxisTV Content Services AxisTV Channel Player

Release 8.x.x is primarily delivered to customers with the following Microso InstallShield installers:

Installers for other AxisTV so ware components, e.g., AxisTV Desktop, AxisTV Desktop Messenger, AxisTV Screen Saver, etc., are bundled into the AxisTV Content Services installer and most may be downloaded for convenience via the AxisTV Web interface a er the Content Services so ware has been successfully installed. Other installers may be obtained from Visix as needed. The installers are available for download from Visix. Alternately, they may be delivered on DVD for an addi onal fee. 6.2.1.1 Best practices

To avoid problema c installa ons, Visix strongly recommends the following opera ng system congura ons: 1. Log into the Content Manager using the AxisTVUser account to perform the installa on. 2. Install AxisTV Content Services so ware on a machine that is not part of a Network Domain or had Group Policies applied. NOTE: See the sec on on Domain and Group Policies above. 3. Disable screensaver and power saving se ngs, since they can prevent the automa c AxisTV weekly reboot from occurring. 6.2.1.2 Prerequisites

Ensure all prerequisites documented above are met before con nuing.

6.2.1.3 Installation of AxisTV Content Services Software

1. Save the installa on les on the Content Manager to allow them to be run locally. 2. Run Setup.exe with eleva on (as Administrator). 3. The AxisTV installer will check for certain required prerequisites and will not con nue un l the prerequisites have been sa sed. Visix bundles required versions of Microso .NET Framework 4.0 and Microso SQL Server 2008 Express with the AxisTV 8.0 installer. If the required version of .NET Framework and/or the SQL Server 2005/2008 default instance name MSSQLSERVER are not found, the AxisTV installer will prompt the user to install the missing components. 4. If missing perquisites were installed, stop the AxisTV installa on, verify that all important Windows Updates are installed, and then re-run Setup.exe with eleva on. 5. Click the Next bu on to begin the AxisTV installa on. Select the radio bu on for I accept the terms in the license agreement and click the Next bu on. 6. Complete the Customer Informa on screen and click the Next bu on. On the No ce for Feature Selec on screen select the Next bu on. 7. On the Setup Features screen, accept the default selec on unless otherwise instructed by a Visix support representa ve. If you wish to select an alterna ve installa on loca on click the Change bu on and specify the loca on, otherwise select the Next bu on. 8. On the Ready to Install the Program screen select the Install bu on. 9. The Installing AxisTV Content Services screen will provide the status of the installa on. 10. As components of the ASP.NET are registered, a series of DOS screens will appear. 11. Once the installa on is complete the user will be returned to the AxisTV Content Services InstallShield Wizard; click the Finish bu on. 12. Verify that all important Windows Updates have been installed. If not, then proceed to run all important updates and restart the server (NOTE: you may have to check for updates again a er reboot). 6.2.1.4 Licensing and Initializing the Content Manager

1. Log on to the Content Manager with the username AxisTVUser and password TechTech1! 2. Visix will supply the Licensing keys to the customer prior to the implementa on of the Content Manager. 3. The customer will be required to place the license key les in the License folder under the AxisTV Content Services installa on folder. For example: C:\Program Files\Visix\AxisTV Content Services\License 4. Run Start Icon | Programs | Visix | Ini alize Device with eleva on (As administrator) to begin the process building the local AxisTV Content Manager. This process will create the database and license the AxisTV system. There is no user interac on during this process. The system will require reboot when complete. If you encounter any problems during this process, email support@visix.com.

6.2.1.5 Con irm AxisTV Content Manager Operation

Software Only Installation Channel Player

AxisTV Channel Player (also called Media Player) so ware is designed to be installed on a hardware and so ware environment as specied by Visix, listed below. Please read and understand the following informa on before beginning an AxisTV Channel Player so ware installa on.

7.1

Hardware Environment

See System Overview sec on of this manual for hardware requirements. In the machines BIOS se ngs, make sure the device will return to its previous state on a power fail, and will boot to the HDD each me it boots.

7.2
7.2.1

Software Environment
Windows Operating System User Account Controls (UAC) must be turned o If using the Extended Widescreen Op on (GC1) Matrox Millennium P690 LP you must download the latest drivers for Windows 7 from the Matrox website. The Video Window Op on (VW0) Hauppauge Impact VCB is not supported. The Video Window Op on with Tuner (VWOT) Hauppauge Win-TV 2250 is supported. No special congura on is needed.

Windows 7 Professional. Note the following requirements and limita ons:

AxisTV Channel Player so ware is not designed to be shared with any other applica ons on the machine. It may not run properly if shared with other applica ons. A default vanilla installa on of the opera ng system is recommended for use with the AxisTV Channel Player so ware. A customers default load, or a PC manufacturers standard load, may not support AxisTV because there may be so ware, hardware drivers, etc. that are unknown or untested. 7.2.2 Microsoft .NET Framework

Microso .NET Framework versions 3.5.1 and 4.0 are required. .NET Framework version 3.5.1 is a Windows feature that can be ac vated on the Control Panel | Programs & Features screen. Microso .NET Framework version 4.0 is bundled into the installer. 7.2.3 Service Account

AxisTV devices boot once per week for stability on Windows pla orms. A local Windows account is required to allow the AxisTV Channel Player to log on automa cally when it boots, thus elimina ng the need for manual interven on. This is especially convenient when players are located in remote or hard to reach loca ons. The account must be a member of the local administrators group.

7.2.4 Windows Requirements A local Windows account must be created on the machine, as follows: o o o Make it a member of the Administrators group and no other groups Set the password to never expire Congure the machine to automa cally login with this account when it boots

The following opera ng system congura ons are REQUIRED:

To avoid problema c installa ons, Visix STRONGLY RECOMMENDS the following opera ng system congura ons: Do not install AxisTV Channel Player so ware on a machine that has ever been joined to a Domain or had Group Policies applied. Leave it as a member of a workgroup. NOTE: See the sec on on Domain and Group Policies below. Disable screensaver and power saving se ngs, since they would defeat the very purpose of the device to display content. Set all Windows event logs to Overwrite as needed Apply the latest Windows High Priority Updates 7.2.5 Domain and Group Policies

You may choose to make AxisTV machines members of your network domain. This is not required for opera on of the system, but may be desirable from a network administra on perspec ve. It is important to note that group policies applied to domain computers may render AxisTV inoperable or cause it to have degraded behavior. AxisTV machines must not be considered desktop machines for the purposes of security policies. Domain group policies must be carefully considered before applica on to AxisTV. If you choose to make AxisTV machines members of your network domain, then carefully examine the network administra on sec ons of the AxisTV manual to understand what the so ware needs in order to operate. It is the users responsibility to understand this informa on and not to apply policies that will prevent AxisTV from opera ng. The best approach if you are unsure whether your domain or group policies will stop AxisTV from opera ng is to get the system up and running with no policies applied, and then apply policies one-at-a- me, checking each me to see if AxisTV is s ll opera ng properly. You may also want to image the machine as a backup before applying policies.

7.3

Install AxisTV Channel Player Software

1. Copy the AxisTV Channel 8.x.x installa on folder into C:\Program les\Visix\Installers\AxisTV to allow to be run locally 2. Run Channel Player 8..x.x setup.exe 3. Acknowledge AxisTV license agreement 4. Acknowledge dialogs to begin installa on 5. A Complete install should be chosen. Most of the me upgrades should be handled with the Channel Player U lity on the Content Manager/Server. There will be occasions when it is be er to run the InstallShield (such as when you need to add the .NET Framework). 6. Acknowledge installa on Finish

8.0

Channel Player Options

The following chapter contains informa on about how to operate the Channel Player and its associated op ons. In order to make any changes to the Channel Player, you must access the player console.

8.1

Accessing the Channel Player Console

1. With a keyboard and mouse connected to the Player, press the ESC key. This ac on may need to be repeated to interrupt the media player. 2. A bouncing screen saver image will instruct to you to use the keyboard or mouse to login 3. When prompted by the login screen, enter your user name and password and select ENTER. The default creden als are: user name admin; password tech. 4. The Player Console will appear as shown above 5. If you do not interact with the Console for 30 seconds the Player will return to the bouncing image.

8.2

Channel Player Console

The Channel Player Interface (Console) is designed to enable you quick access to a number of tools to manipulate Channel Player se ngs. You can access each se ng with a mouse or the shortcut key in parentheses next to each se ng tle. 8.2.1 Channel Player Settings play! (p) launches the media player delivering scheduled content to associated displays. display (1) allows the user to manipulate the Players display se ngs. video window (2) provides control over the video window op on if available. sound (3) allows users to manipulate the audio inputs and output of the Channel Player. communica ons (4) designate the appropriate communica ons se ngs DHCP (automa c addressing) or sta c IP address. date & me (5) allows the user to set the current local date, me and me zone for the Player. security (6) change the user name and password to prevent unauthorized access. sta s cs (7) provides Channel Player sta s cs regarding used disk space and historical le size data. This func on is not ac ve in versions 7.x and above. command prompt (c) opens the Visix Mul media Player Command Console.

rmware update (f) allows users to update Channel Player rmware from the console. This func on is not ac ve in versions 7.x and above. logout (l) saves current se ngs and exits the Console. Returns to the Screen Saver reques ng the user to press any key to login. If you intended to launch to the media player, select play! (p) from the Console. shutdown (u) shuts down the Player. This is not a reboot command. If you want to turn the Player on a er it is shut down, you will be required to do so at the Player. reboot (r) reboots the Channel Player. tuner (t) - launches the tuner card conguration program selector utility Accessing the Windows Layer

8.2.2

In rare circumstances, you may nd it necessary to access the Windows layer of the Channel Player. To exit the Channel Player shell and access Windows, you will need a keyboard and mouse connected to the Channel Player. If the display associated with the Channel Player is not readily viewable, a local monitor will be useful. If you prefer, you can use Remote Desktop Connec on to access the players. The players come with RDP enabled by default. To access Windows, follow the steps below. 1. With the Channel Player playing, click the mouse and press ESC 2. Login to the player menu. Username is admin password is tech 3. Select the Command Prompt(c) op on 4. At the C: Type in maintenancemode NOTE: At this stage you are viewing the Windows desktop. However, icons and other visible items are hidden. Drag your mouse to the lower part of the screen to view the Windows task bar. 5. NOTE: To access the Mee ngMinder via RDP, you must know its network ID, i.e., its computer name, DNS name, or IP address. Otherwise, you will need to a ach a keyboard and mouse. Also, if connec ng via RDP, you must reboot the device when you have nished your work. To launch the Windows shell when the Mee ngMinder system is currently running and displaying content, press the Alt and Tab keys on the keyboard to get focus on the applica on, and press the ESC key to switch to console mode. You will receive the Login Authorizaon Please dialog. Enter the creden als to login to the player console. The factory default creden als are username Admin and password tech.

On the Dynamic Visual Communica on Mul media Player menu select Command Prompt (c).

At the prompt, type the command maintenancemode and press enter. This command will bring up the Windows desktop for the media player.

Once you are on the systems desktop, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder C:\Program Files\Visix\AxisTV Channel Player. For new installa ons, copy the le kiosk.exe.cong.new, paste it into the same folder, and rename it to kiosk.exe.cong, as follows: Step 1: Right click on the kiosk.exe.cong.new and click Copy.

This feature allows a user to set a 4-digit PIN during the interac ve reserva on process. The user is prompted to enter their PIN before they create, modify or cancel his/her mee ng. This 4-digit PIN protec on feature can be turned on or o for each individual Mee ngMinder. The se ngs in the kiosk.exe.cong le, located in the Channel Player Installa on directory, C:\Program File\Visix\AxisTV\Channel Player determines whether or not the PIN feature is ac ve. How a user schedules a mee ng can be controlled using scheme and count variables. You can limit how many hours or days in advance a Mee ngMinder reserva on can be made, such as: only within the next 4 hours same day only within the next 2 days.

NOTE: When licensing for both EMS Adapter and Exchange Adapter are ac vated on the content manager, the Mee ngMinder gives preference to EMS, i.e., the Mee ngMinder will only interact with the EMS Server for mee ng crea on and edi ng. 9.3.3 Third Party Software Coniguration

Dean Evans and Associates EMS (If you are not using Dean Evans EMS, skip this secon) The EMS Adapter screen allows you to congure the Dean Evans EMS Adapter service that regularly copies events from the EMS database to the AxisTV database. Once the events are copied to the AxisTV database, the AxisTV Event Schedule Plug-in automa cally creates bulle ns from the data. The Mee ngMinder interac ve room sign reuses the Adapter screen for EMS database connec on informa on only. The Mee ngMinder is able to display and share reserva ons with EMS Lite, Professional and Enterprise from Dean Evans & Associates. Current versions of EMS Lite, Professional, Enterprise, Campus and Workplace are supported. EMS Prerequisites for the Interac ve Mee ngMinder: User setup (System Administra on Security Users) Groups setup (Main Menu Reserva ons Reserva ons Groups) Buildings (Congura on Facili es Buildings) Rooms (Congura on Facili es Rooms) Statuses (Congura on Administra on Statuses) o The EMS administrator is required to create at least two Statuses. The Status Types required are Cancel and Book Space. These Status types populate the User interface in AxisTV on the Interac ve Menu.

Congure the EMS Server The SQL script EMSAPIScript.sql must be executed on the EMS database in order to create and modify reserva ons and thus enable the integra on between the Mee ngMinder and EMS so ware. Please refer to the EMS 3rd Party Guide to Making and Edi ng Reserva ons from Dean Evans & Associates for more informa on.

Group Name/User Name Walk-up reserva ons created at the Mee ngMinder interac ve room sign need to be ed to an EMS customer setup in the EMS applica on. The customer can be a generic account set up specically for the Mee ngMinder. As shown below, the Tei.Se ngs.xml le in the Content Server Installa on directory, C:\Program Files\Visix\AxisTV Content Services has been extended to include the values for the Group Name and the Username as IMM Group and IMM User. NOTE: The Group and Username, IMM Group and IMM User, need to be created in the EMS client so ware rst and then the values copied to the Tei.Se ngs.xml. You may use the default values that are provided. However, the EMS database and the Tei. Se ngs.xml se ngs must match. See Sec on 4.1 for the list of support versions. 9.3.4 EMS API Web Service Coniguration

Important: The EMS API Web Service Conguraon requires AxisTV v.7.1 and higher and EMS Enterprise (5.x) and Professional (11.x) Prior to conguring the AxisTV user interface, the EMS API Web Service must be installed and congured on the AxisTV Content Manager. To congure the AxisTV user interface navigate to Congure | Event Sched. | EMS Adapter, select Enterprise (5.x) or Professional (11.x) from the EMS Version drop down menu then click the Use Web Service check box. NOTE: The EMS API Web Service must be uninstalled before performing a clean install of AxisTV. Failing to do so will prevent the EMS API Web Service from uninstalling properly. 9.3.5 Conigure Exchange Server Go to the Congure | Event Sched. | Exchange Server Adapter screen.

Adapter Sengs Refresh Interval (minutes): You can specify any value greater than 0. Recommended values include 15, 30 and 60. This controls how frequently the Exchange Adapter copies appointments from the Exchange Servers to the AxisTV database. The more frequently you update your Exchange Calendars, the smaller this number should be.

Calendar Sengs Congura on of the Microso Exchange Support Op on is done via the Web interface, under Congure | Event Sched. | Exchange Server Adapter. You can add mul ple calendars. Each calendar is found by using its WebDAV URL for Exchange 2003 or the Web Service URL for Exchange 2007. Each calendar is accessed using creden als supplied by the customers Exchange Administrator. In Exchange 2003 the room is incorporated into the URL; for Exchange 2007 it is necessary to login as the Room or User Mailbox.

Microso Exchange 2003 public folder calendars are found by using their WebDAV URLs. Exchange 2007 uses the Exchange Web Service URL. Web Service URLs do not allow for anonymous login and password (i.e. guest) for retrieval of room informa on and may only be accessed by the user/room users login creden als. Crea on of Room Mailboxes is the preferred, but crea ng a User Mailbox (with the rooms name) is also op on. Both Room and User mailboxes should be set up as per customers normal internal process for Exchange mailboxes. No special setup is required for AxisTV. NOTE: All exchange accounts need to be validated. This applies to customers using Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2007. Valida on may be performed by using Outlook to send an e-mail either to the account needing to be validated or to another account. Once validated, you can create events in the respec ve calendar. Once congured, you can test the connec on by impor ng events immediately. Click Import Now. If the import works, all events that were imported will be displayed. If any errors occur communica ng with the Exchange Server, they will be displayed. Use this informa on to consult with your network or Exchange administrator.

Conigure Player Hardware

Mee ngMinder interac ve room signs are treated as a special type of AxisTV media player. The Congure Channel Players/Hardware screen allows you to add, change and remove media player hardware from the installa on. It also lets you refresh content, reboot and shutdown individual or mul ple players.

NOTE: Mee ngMinder interac ve room signs must be powered on and properly congured on the network to complete this task. Log into the web interface Using the menu, navigate to Congure | Channel Player | Hardware op on. On the Channel Player | Hardware screen, click on the Add bu on to add a new player. Once you have opened the following screen, complete the form (see image below) and click the Finished bu on.

NOTE: Mee ngMinder interac ve room signs must use the DNS Name of the media players, not the systems IP address. Mee ngs can be created, modied and deleted interac vely by touching the screen. Overview The Room availability sign is displayed below the EVENT DETAILS on the Mee ngMinder with three possible states: Room Available Room Unavailable Room Reserved The room availability sign is highlighted in green or red, depending on the availability of the room. When the room is available, then the Room Available sign is highlighted in green. The user may make a reserva on by clicking Reserve or the Room Available bu on. Interacve Timeline A meline is displayed in the bo om sec on of the interac ve applica on. The meline shows the current date, and a graphical representa on of the rooms schedule, based on me. The meline is interac ve, allowing me slots (indicated by yellow or orange) to be touched for more informa on that will be displayed in the Event Details sec on, allowing the users to take ac ons based on the informa on. The user can scroll on the meline by scrolling on the area of the meline that displays the me in hours, or by scrolling on the area of the meline that displays the current date. Corporate Logo The bo om le corner of the interac ve Mee ngMinder is designed to display a company logo in GIF le format with a transparent background. The Visix logo is the default logo displayed in the bottom le corner. The user is able to change the logo by saving the new logo as company_logo.png in the C:\Program Files\Visix\AxisTV Channel Player\Graphics directory on the content manager. Administrators with a global PIN have access to all available mee ngs that are created via the MeetingMinder interac ve touchscreen. Select a mee ng that was created at the Mee ngMinder room sign using the interac ve meline. If the reserva on is not visible in the current view, touch the forward arrow next to the date and/or meline to nd the reserva on you want to modify. When you touch the reserva on on the meline, the Room Reserved is highlighted in red and the RESERVE button is disabled. Touch the Modify Mee ng op on. Enter PIN (if required) and touch the Conrm op on. To modify the room reserva on Start Time, Highlight the HRS and touch the +/- bu ons to adjust the me. Start Time may not be in the past or conict with other mee ngs If the PIN entered is not valid, then an error message indica ng PIN does not match is displayed in red on the le panel. To modify the room reserva on End Time: Highlight the HRS and touch the +/- bu ons to adjust the me. End Time should always be a er the Start Time. Otherwise, an error saying Start Time is not before End Time is displayed. Touch Conrm to save modica ons.

Interacve Room Cancellaons Mee ngs that were created via the Mee ngMinder interac ve touchscreen may be cancelled by the user that created the mee ng. Mee ng cancella ons are viewable on the content manager, as well as the Mee ngMinder display. Administrators with a global PIN have access to all available mee ngs that are created via the MeetingMinder interac ve touchscreen. Select a mee ng that was created at the Mee ngMinder room sign using the interac ve meline. If the reserva on is not visible in the current view, touch the forward arrow next to the date and/or meline to nd the reserva on you want to delete. When you touch the reserva on on the meline, the Room Reserved is highlighted in red and the RESERVE button is disabled. Touch END MEETING. Enter your pin number and then touch Conrm/Delete op on. Each installa on (Content Manager/ Server and all of its associated Channel Players) has an Installa on Key or CD Key. Each feature and its quan ty, where applicable, require a License Key. This key is created from the installa on key, a code from the server itself and the deni on of the feature. A License Manager tool is included with AxisTV. It allows you to review the features ac vated on you server. If you later purchase new features, this tool allows you to request and then ac vate a new License Key for that new feature. To request a license key: 1. Run Start | Programs |Visix | License Manager 2. The Ac vate Server dialog will appear if this is the rst me the license manager is run c. Introduction

Visix uses the Hauppauge HVR-2250 tuner card to support the Video Window Op on w/Tuner (VWOT). AxisTV v.7.2 and higher supports HD video through a ClearQAM signal with Channel Players that have the Windows 7 opera ng system. 10.3.2 Hardware

Installa on consists of physically installing the HVR-2250 tuner card in a Channel Player, and then installing its drivers. 10.3.3 Delayed Distribution

Delayed Distribu on that is available only with the Enterprise license. It enables opera ng system and network administrators to delay distribu on of content to Channel Players in order to spread load across the network or me. This can help reduce network satura on when large media are scheduled for playback.

Desktop Messenger

Send AxisTV bulle ns as instant messages to any and all licensed PCs. To install and congure Desktop Messenger on each PC : 1. Go to System Tools and select Desktop Messenger 2. Right Click on Install AxisTV Desktop Messenger Client Installer 3. Choose Save As/Download from your browser pop-up menu to save the installa on program on your C: drive. 4. Once the installer has been downloaded, run it to install the AxisTV Desktop Messenger client program. 5. When the InstallShield Wizard is complete click on the Launch AxisTV Desktop Messenger then click on Finish. 6. You will nd the AxisTV Desktop Messenger icon on your desktop toolbar. 7. To congure the toolbar, right click on the icon and select Congure. 8. Enter the URL of your publisher server followed by /DesktopPublisher/DesktopGateway.asmx. Click Test. If using a proxy server, enter proxy informa on. 9. Click Add/Change to subscribe to a distribu on list. Some distribu on lists are password protected. Desktop Messenger can support mul ple distribu on lists. Based on the needs of the client, mul ple publishers can be setup on dierent servers to spread out the network load. Desktop Messenger is licensed by client count. All publishers reserve a por on of the client count. The total of all publishers reserved count cannot exceed the license count. Publishers should be installed onto PCs or servers to maximize throughput through the network.

10.4.1.3.1 Publish Messages A Desktop Message is a bulle n that excludes video secon\\fs1\csg\Training\REVISED - Training Materials\Video Final\Video with Quiz\Publish to Internet\Introduc on to AxisTV_TRPs. If an installaon is licensed for Desktop Messenger and the user has the Create Desktop Message privilege, the schedule screen includes the Desktop Messenger. The user can schedule the bulle n to both Playlists and the Desktop Messenger, or Skip Playlists! in order to schedule exclusively to the Desktop Messenger. Once the bulle n has been published to the Play List(s) or the play lists have been skipped the publish schedule screen appears. The schedule a ributes are dierent than for Playlists. A message can be scheduled for one- me publishing or recurring publishing. There is no no on of a list of items that play over and over. Scheduling is not real- me. It can take several minutes from the me that a message becomes eligible for publishing to the Desktop Messenger un l it is actually delivered. This is due to the mul - er distribu on model.

Screen Saver
Conigure Screensaver on the Content Manager

To Congure the screen saver plug-in on the Content Manager/Server: 1. Go to Congure on the menu of the web interface then select Screen Saver plug-in 2. Enter Regenera on Interval and Minimum poll interval. Default is 15 minutes. The Screen Saver plug-in generates non-video images or all Public Playlists. It generates images based on the Regenera on Interval you specify. This interval, in minutes, dictates how long to wait when checking for changes to bulle ns. Each Screen Saver Client must obtain images from the Screen Saver plug-in. You can control how o en the client poll for updates by specifying a minimum poll interval. This interval, in minutes, dictates how long to wait when checking for changes to images. Note that the client polling and the plug-in regenera on run independently of one another. This means that any bulle n changed could take up to Regenera on Interval + Minimum Poll Interval to make its way down to the client. The total number of clients allowed to access the Screen Saver plug-in is documented for you. To increase this number you must purchase addi onal Screen Saver Client Licenses and register them.

Select Yes on Automa cally Add Clients if you want individual PCs to be added when the plug-in is installed and congured on the Client PC. A client is registered (and consumes an available license) the rst me it connects to the Screen Saver plug-in. The RSS Publisher is a new feature that can provide RSS Readers with play lists and their images. All public view play lists are eligible for RSS Publishing. The RSS Publisher is licensed by the number of RSS Web Servers. During installa on, you can choose to create an RSS Web Site as a sub-selec on of Content Publishers.

Coniguring Web Viewer (Public Pages)

The Public (Slide Show) screen provides a way to view content generated by the AxisTV so ware for selected play lists by people who do not have AxisTV user accounts. It can also be used to embed the slide show in organiza onal Web sites and portals. The play lists must be marked as public in their setup. The screen comes with standard naviga on controls for Play, Stop, Next, Back, First and Last. The following table explains how to make a public image clickable (for naviga on to another Web resource), the format of the URL and op ons in the Web.cong le that can be congured to control the behavior of the slide show.

10.9

Old Message Purge

Large implementa ons have to support hundreds of users manipula ng messages across hundreds of playlists to hundreds of players. Old messages are very frequently created by changing content. The AxisTV Content Purge Service that runs on the Content Manager/Server has been enhanced to automa cally purge old messages, based on se ngs established in the Tei.Se ngs.xml le. Only Enterprise licensed systems support this automa c old message purge. A new sec on has been added to Tei.Se ngs.xml for controlling the behavior of the purge. This new sec on is a direct subordinate of the <Services> sec on.

10.9.1

Unpurgable Messages (Limitations)

Some messages cannot be detected by the automa c old message purge. 10.9.1.1 Never Scheduled

If a user creates a new message but doesnt schedule it, it remains in My Content forever. The old message purge is based on the premise that the message has dropped o the schedule and this is detected by nding out the last me it was known to be on the schedule.

If a message is scheduled to play for a very short dura on, it is possible that it will be added to the system, scheduled, played, then removed from the schedule between the AxisTV Content Purge Service purge cycles. Messages like this look the same as never scheduled messages to the purge.

10.9

Mode Management

Mode Management is the ability to ac vate a specic mode on a set of players at once, rather than one player at a me. It is accessed from the Congure | Channel Players | Group Mode menu. This menu op on is visible only when the installa on is licensed as an Enterprise installa on. Every installa on has a built-in group called All Players that can be used to ac vate a play mode on all players at once. In order to ac vate only some players, the customer must form groups by using the Congure | Channel Players | Groups screen. The Group Mode screen does not show the currently ac vated mode on every group since the players within the group can have dierent ac ve modes at the same me. When you ac vate a new mode on a player group, the players within the group are all updated on the Content Manager/Server. The new mode will become eec ve on all the players when the updated ATD les are published to the players (within the next publishing cycle). The visual feedback upon successful ac va on is text in the Ac vated Mode column.

10.10

Player Vertical Scalability

Enterprise customers can now choose to deploy mul ple Channel Player Publishers to support a very large number of Channel Players. This new approach is called Mul Tier Publishing where more than one er of distribu on is used to spread the load across network segments as eciently and quickly as possible. 10.10.1 Player Enterprise Publishers

A new publisher, the Player Enterprise Publisher, has been added to AxisTV and is accessible and congurable for Enterprise customers. 10.10.2 Components

Three new components have been added to enable mul - er publica on: Enterprise Distributor, Enterprise Publisher and the Consumer. 10.10.3 Enterprise Distributor

The Enterprise Distributor must sit on the Content Manager/Server, and executes inside the AxisTV Content Publishing Service, in place of the old content publisher. It pushes content to the Enterprise Publishers, based on the congura on established in the Web UX.

10.10.4 Enterprise Publisher

The Enterprise Publisher can reside on the Content Manager/Server, a separate server or PC or on a Channel Player. It accepts content from the Enterprise Distributor and makes that content available to players via an IIS virtual directory. The bulk of the transfer load, including simultaneously downloading, is handled by IIS and web download protocols. The Enterprise Publisher keeps itself clean of all old content. 10.10.5 Consumer

The Consumer is a new process on the Channel Player that can be congured to point to an Enterprise Publisher and download content automa cally on a periodic basis. Whenever content has been changed it no es the player that a content update has occurred. It periodically scans the Channel Player for old content (unreferenced) and purges it automa cally. 10.10.6 Deployment Options

The Enterprise Publishers may be deployed in several ways. The distributor and publisher can be installed on the Content Manager/Server. Since the goal is ver cal scaling, though, this congura on wont make sense for most installa ons.

A variant of the rst op on adds Enterprise Publishers to external servers, PCs or players. This op on will be appropriate for some installa ons. For most large installa ons, though, the best deployment op on is to install the Enterprise Publishers on servers, PCs or players other than the server or PC running the Content Manager/Server. This distributes the I/O load away from the Content Manager/Server, which may have to handle large numbers of simultaneous user transac ons. 10.10.7 Installing the Enterprise Publisher

The Enterprise Publisher is bundled into the AxisTV Content Services installer. It is part of the Content Publishers feature. The Enterprise Player Publisher sub-feature controls whether IIS is prepared with a new virtual directory. This installer must be run on all devices that will serve as Enterprise Publishers. 10.10.8 Coniguring the Enterprise Publisher

Once the publisher is installed and IIS is congured by the installer, the publisher must be congured. For machines other than the Content Manager/Server, run Prepare Publishers. For Content Manager/Servers, run Ini alize Device or Upgrade Device. Once the appropriate wizard has completed, edit the Tei.Se ngs.xml le. A new sec on has been added for controlling the behavior of the publisher. The Enterprise Distributor is congured using the Web UX. The Congure | Scalability Op ons | Player Publishers screen allows deni on of all publishers as well as the players each publisher owns.

If the Publishing Scheme is one of the Mul -Tier choices, then the Player Publishers screen will include a publishers sec on that allows for deni on of publishers and the associated players. The help for this screen details the purpose of each sec on. 10.10.10 Publication Delay If Mul -Tier with Message Importance is chosen you can specify publica on delays associated with presumably lower-importance messages and playlists. The Enterprise Distributor sorts all messages from the most importance to the least, using the numeric values shown in the Message Importance sec on of this document. By adding delays, you can insure that extremely important messages dont have to wait on an unimportant message. The Enterprise Distributor will actually skip messages based on the delay. So, if an unimportant message has an associated delay of 15 minutes, then the distributor will skip it up to 15 mes, giving higher importance message a chance to be distributed rst. When the delay has expired the unimportant message is sent, but behind more important message in the same push cycle.

Most installa ons should use either Playlist Importance only or Message Importance only, but not both. Using both will require care on the part of the administrator to ensure the desired results. To enable hundreds of players, there must be more than one publishing point. Each publishing point must enable simultaneous distribu on to mul ple players, based on network segmenta on. 10.10.10.1 Con iguration Tei.Sengs.xml This le is contained within the same directory as the server executable les. Before Ac veDirectory integra on can be congured in AxisTV, IIS must rst be congured to support integrated authen ca on. If IIS isnt congured properly then the user may receive resource not found errors.

Coniguring the Remote Control API and SDK


Remote Control API

The Visix Remote Control Applica on Programming Interface (API) is a licensed feature that can be purchased for the AxisTV Content Manager. An associated so ware development kit (SDK) is available for programmers who wish to u lize the Remote Control API. Note that programming by the client or a third party is required to use the Remote Control API to remotely trigger Mass Alert No ca on. The rst component of the SDK is an AxisTV-controllable API that allows an organiza on to create a program that will manipulate or trigger the AxisTV Mass Alert No ca on from an external interface, and interrupt playback of regularly scheduled content and replace it with Mass Alert communica ons. You can install the Remote Control API onto the same computer as the AxisTV Content Manager or on a dierent computer. If you need to invoke the Remote Control API from an Internet client, Visix strongly recommends installing the Remote Control API onto a separate computer from the AxisTV Content Manager and isola ng the internet-exposed computer with rewalls on either side. You can install the Remote Control API and SDK from two installers: AxisTV Content Services AxisTV Remote Control API and SDK

The AxisTV Remote Control API and SDK installer is much smaller than the AxisTV Content Services installer and may be more convenient to use when installing the API alone. Regardless of which installer you use, the API and SDK are located in the feature named Remote Control (see image to the right). In the AxisTV Content Services installer the Remote Control feature is deselected by default. There are two sub-features, the API and SDK. Customers that wish to develop client so ware to interact with the API should install the SDK onto a developer worksta on. The AxisTV Content Manager must have the Remote Control API license key ac vated in order for API requests to be honored. Once the license is applied and the API is installed onto the same or a dierent computer, the API must be congured to point to the correct AxisTV Content Manager computer. On the AxisTV Content Manager, go to Start | Programs | Visix | Congure Remote Control API This shortcut executes the AxisTV Web Congura on U lity. You can enter the Applica on Server (Content Manager) DNS or IP Address, and TCP port. If you install the API onto the same PC as the Content Manager, then the Ini alize or Upgrade Device wizards will assume the API should point to the locally installed Content Manager. If you install the API onto another computer you must manually congure the iden ty of the Content Manager.

10.12.2 SDK Developer Kit

The Remote Control SDK available from the installers is intended for use by developers that wish to write applica ons that can invoke AxisTV programma cally to perform bulle n, scheduling and channel player tasks, including Mass Alert override. The SDK comes with two les, both installed in the RemoteControlSdk subdirectory under AxisTV Content Services (unless the installer chooses a dierent loca on): rcapi.pdf documents how to install, congure, test and develop clients for the Remote Control API. SamplesProject.zip contains a Visual Studio 2008 .NET Forms client that invokes all major services within the API. An AxisTV Administrator must also congure the Remote Control API in the AxisTV web interface. This may be congured from the Congure | Remote Control API menu.

10.13

Coniguring Mass Alert

The Mass Alert No ca on feature allows users who have been given responsibility for ac va ng mass alert messages to override all scheduled content and send out an alert message to all media players in the AxisTV deployment using just a few mouse clicks. Customers with an Enterprise License may choose to specify groups of players to receive Alert Messages.

Mass Alert No ca on is a licensed feature. If the system is licensed for Mass Alerts, system administrators will see the Ac vate Mass Alert No ca on bu on at the bo om of the Naviga on Menu. The system can be ac vated manually by selec ng this link, or through a trigger from an external source via an email, a SOAP Web Service, a post to the CAP (Common Aler ng Protocol) listener, or through CAP Polling. CAP Listener and CAP Polling are mutually exclusive of one another. To add Mass Alert to your AxisTV system contact salesteam@visix.com. AxisTV security is implemented by means of individual user accounts with varying levels of rolebased security. The user is only presented data and controls for which they have rights to manage.

11.1

Options

AxisTV has an internal security system or Enterprise users can choose to use Ac veDirectory for Authen ca on.

11.2

AxisTV Internal Security

Factory Default Accounts AxisTV systems come from the factory with two default user accounts. They are:

Passwords

Passwords are managed from System Tools| Change Password. The minimum length is 1 character. There are no complexity requirements in AxisTV. If your network policies require strong passwords you will have to manage that manually. Go to the Congure | Security menu to dene password rules. 11.2.2 Role-based security explanation

Role-based security is a security model where users are granted access to features of the system based on the role with which they have been assigned. A role is essen ally a deni on of the tasks for which a user assigned that role is responsible. A user of AxisTV performs ac ons upon AxisTV. Each ac on that a user might perform requires that user to have been granted the privilege to perform that specic ac on. To grant each user each individual privilege to which they are en tled would be imprac cal. Instead, privileges are combined into groups, or roles, and these roles are assigned to users. The roles are dened once (but may be modied at any me) and used for as many users as desired. 11.2.2.1 Prede ined Roles Administers all aspects of the AxisTV installa on. Includes all privileges. It cannot be modied. Approves content (bulle ns and crawls) on behalf of other AxisTV users. Backup using AxisTVBackup.bat

AxisTV includes a facility to backup and restore the AxisTV database.

Download the most recent version of the Visix AxisTVBackup.bat le using the Support Download U lity on the Content Server, e.g., Start | Programs | Visix | Support Download U lity. NOTE: The le will download to the C:\Program Files\Visix\AxisTV Content Services\ Support folder. Execute the batch le from the Support folder. NOTE: Process will stop all the AxisTV services and make a backup of the AxisTV database, the Binary Storage folder, the License folder, the web.cong le and the tei.se ngs. xml le. Once the backup is complete, it will create a folder: C:\AxisTVBackup\AxisTVBinaryStorage__. Inside that folder, you will nd a folder named BinaryStorage and a le named AxisTVBackup__.bak. These are ve items you must have in the event of a Hard Drive failure or an OS failure of your Content Server. We recommend that you copy these les to an external drive, such as a USB drive, and store them in a safe environment. 12.1.2 Frequency

The frequency with which your AxisTV database should be backed up is dependent on your organiza ons usage habits. The frequency of the changes to your se ngs and bulle ns coupled with your tolerance for data loss will indicate the proper frequency. CAUTION: YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RECOVER AXISTV DATA if you fail to both backup the database and copy the le structure, or if you allow the database and le structure to get out of sync. 12.1.3 Automation

Currently AxisTV does not facilitate the automa on of the backup procedure.

12.2

Restore

This procedure assumes the data will be restored onto the same Content Manager from which it was originally taken. (If this is not the case, please see the following sec on for Migra on Instruc ons.) CAUTION: Be sure to restore both the database and Binary Storage folder at the same me while no processes are ac ng on either, to avoid the possibility of them becoming misaligned and ruining the data restore. 1. Go to Start | Programs | Visix and launch the Channel Player U lity; use the Services tab to stop all AxisTV Services 2. Use the IIS Manager to stop the Default Web Site 3. Rename the exis ng Binary Storage usually located at C:/Program Files/Visix/AxisTV Content Services Example: Binary Storage Old

NOTE: You can delete the old Binary Storage folder once the restore has completed successfully. 4. Copy the Binary Storage from the Backup into the installa on directory usually located at C:/Program Files/Visix/AxisTV Content Services 5. Open the SQL Server Management Studio and connect to the SQL Server; expand the Databases folder and right-click on the AxisTV database; select the op on Tasks>Restore>Database; point to the .bak le that was created by the AxisTVBackup.bat and restore it to the current database 6. Run the AxisTV Upgrade Device wizard at Start | Programs | Visix NOTE: If you get a message that Upgrade Device cannot run because it has already been successfully executed, delete the Tei.Common.UpgradeDevice.dat le from the AxisTV Content Services folder. 7. Use the IIS Manager to start the Default Web Site 8. Reboot the Content Manager 9. Login to the WebUI

12.3

Migration Instructions

1. Back up your exis ng AxisTV system (See Back Up instruc ons above) 2. Obtain new license keys for your new content manager. 3. Email the Volume ID of the new device to Visix (so wareupdate@visix.com) then we will send you the licenses via email. a. To nd the volume ID, from the new Content Manager: i. Hit Start | Run | Type in Cmd | dir | and the Volume Serial Number is what I need. Its an eight digit number including both le ers and numbers. XXXX-XXXX. If you are using a Virtual Machine (VM), then we will need the volume ID of the C: Drive of that virtual machine.

4. Install the AxisTV so ware on the new Content Manager (see sec on on Soware Only Installaon Instrucons-Content Manager). 5. Restore the database (see Restore instruc ons above) 6. Contact Visix to schedule a support session for necessary congura on changes (so wareupdate@visix.com) 7. Run Upgrade Device. If upgrade is successful, reboot. If you encounter an error, contact Visix support. NOTE: Upgrade Device is only required if you are installing a newer version of so ware on your new server. If the version is the same as the one on your current system, skip this step

Applying Software Updates


Important Information

Read and understand before proceeding! Upda ng your AxisTV requires upda ng the Content Manager and all media (channel) players. All AxisTV devices within a single system must be running the same version of AxisTV so ware. Make sure you have obtained the 8.x.x. Content Manager/Server and Channel Player installers before proceeding. Contact Visix for the so ware. To avoid loss of data in the event that a problem occurs during the update, it is impera ve that you perform a backup prior to proceeding. See instruc ons on the following pages. The Channel Player U lity can be used to update Channel Players from the Content Manager/Server without the need to physically visit each Channel Player. The Channel Player u lity will not, however, install new drivers or suppor ng applica ons such as Adobe Flash or QuickTime. NOTE: If upda ng from a version prior 6.0 or if you are using MSDE instead of SQL Server, contact Visix for more informa on before proceeding.

13.2

Hardware Evaluation

When upda ng your AxisTV system, ensure that your hardware meets the minimum specica ons as outlined in the System Overview sec on of this manual. If your hardware does not meet the minimum specica ons, you will see performance degrada on in the AxisTV Channel Player so ware. The areas that will be aected are: Smoothness of text cker Speed and smoothness of transi ons Video Playback

If you are unsure how to proceed, you can email the AxisTV Channel Player and Content Manager serial numbers if hardware was purchased from Visix (serial numbers are located on a label on the top of the computer) and Visix can help you determine the impact on your performance if you apply the update.

13.3.1

Back up AxisTV Data


Backup using AxisTVBackup.bat

Download the most recent version of the Visix AxisTVBackup.bat le using the Support Download U lity on the Content Server, e.g., Start | Programs | Visix | Support Download U lity. NOTE: It will download to the C:\Program Files\Visix\AxisTV Content Services\ Support folder. Execute the batch le from the Support folder. NOTE: Process will stop all the AxisTV services and make a backup of the AxisTV database, the Binary Storage folder, the License folder, the web.cong le and the tei.se ngs. xml le. Once the backup is complete, it will create a folder: C:\AxisTVBackup\AxisTVBinaryStorage__. Inside that folder, you will nd a folder named BinaryStorage and a le named AxisTVBackup__.bak. These are ve items you must have in the event of a Hard Drive failure or an OS failure of your Content Server. We recommend that you copy these les to an external drive, such as a USB drive, and store them in a safe environment.

NOTE: AxisTV Content Services must be installed to the same directory which the previous version was installed. Normally AxisTV is located in C:\Program Files\Visix\AxisTV Content Services. If this is the case, you do not need to change anything. If your AxisTV installa on is located in a dierent directory, select Change and browse to the correct loca on. On some older systems, the install to loca on will need to be changed to the previous version loca on (usually C:\Program Files\TEI\ AxisTV). Click Next, then Install, then click Finish when complete

If this occurs, please contact Visix Support

If upgrade is successful, Reboot NOTE: Microso .NET 4 is required with version 8.x. It will be installed automa cally by AxisTV but may need to be manually selected in IIS. For Windows 7/Server 2008: open the IIS manager, select Applica on Pools, double click on DefaultAppPools then choose .NET Framework v.4.0. For XP/Server 2003: open Internet Informa on Services, open the proper es for Default Web Site, select the ASP.NET tab then set ASP.NET version to 4.

Update Channel Players

The Channel Player U lity can be used to update AxisTV 6.0.1 and above Channel Players from the Content Manager without the need to physically visit each Channel Player. The Update window below will display the progress of each Channel Player as it is updated

9. When complete, go back to the AxisTV Services Tab, select all services again and click on Start Selected AxisTV Services If all channel players update successfully, the AxisTV so ware update is complete. If you experience any problems a er applying the update, please contact Visix support.

Update Desktop Clients

Once your AxisTV Content Manager and Channel Players have been updated, users should to uninstall previous versions of the following clients (if used) from their PC: AxisTV Desktop AxisTV ScreenSaver AxisTV Desktop Messenger

Once the previous version has been removed, users should go to System Tools Menu in the AxisTV web interface to download and install the new version.
