    After the formation of the Japan Ergonomics Research Society in the December of 1964, ergonomics activities progressed rapidly.

    The society has produced a checklist of 675 items which proved of use in industry; also a curriculum which will form the basis of a new ergonomics department. Four tables list; special sections in the Japanese Journal of Ergonomics, various instruments for ergonomics research, basic research undertaken in the field, and characteristics of human factors engineering in Japan.
