Learning Activity
With a partner discuss:
Do your children have adequate work opportunities? Do your children have opportunities to serve? Do you children have opportunities to play? How can you change things to increase all three?

Clear Expectations
State exactly what you want done (Example). Avoid:
Lets commands Question commands Chain commands

General rule
Age 7 and under, give only one command at a time. Ages 7-8, increase to two. Ages 8+, increase by two.

Compliance
Healthy families only have between 50-60% compliance for requests. This increases by adding 10 seconds to each request.

Provide Choices
Allow choice, between choices you are comfortable with. Allow the natural consequences to result from choice.

Decide what to have for lunch the next day, at least 60 minutes before bedtime. Make lunch for the next day, at least 30 minutes before bedtime. Put lunch in the refrigerator 5 minutes after making the lunch. Get lunch out of the refrigerator upon at least 5 minutes after waking up. Put lunch in backpack 5 minutes before leaving for school.
