    Purpose:
    There has been a rapid expansion of medical schools in
    Australia in the last 4 years. However, there is nowhere to
    place these extra students in clinics and hospitals to
    so as to provide them with clinical teaching. Here,
    we solve the problem with an online medical school,
    called YouTube Medical School.

    Method:
    Over the last 6 months, the authors have developed
    and placed 275 videos on YouTube.com. Topics covered
    include sports medicine, orthopaedics, operations,
    preparation for the OR, trauma, practical skills,
    and vocational advice.YouTube allows easy upload,
    editing and monitoring of viewers(most watched and major
    changes).Material is collected from our archives, live from
    our clinic and the OR.

    Results:
    Over the first 6 months there have been 61,000 video views,
    with the largest usage in the USA, UK,Canada, Australia and
    SE Asia. The demogaphics are male/female (77/23%)
    and main age group(44-54).The most popular videos were:
    How to Interview for Medical School and The Femur.

    Conclusion:
    The use of YouTube makes clinical material
    readily available to medical students.
