There are no family problems, family crisis, tragedies or concerns, but there has been a recent change to T.C.s family; her uncle recently moved away to college in August of this year. T.C.s mothers parental attitude toward education is, highly important to her, she also feels that it is a necessity to have in life. Her parental attitude towards the discipline of T.C. is necessary and it is designed to help the child make better choices more so than a personal method of control.

Childs health history was retrieve by a parent questionnaire filled out by childs mother. T.C.s mother received prenatal care for T.C. and her birth was a normal birth. T.C.s health status is healthy, even though she was born with a heart murmur. This does not present any current health risks. T.C. is a very active three year old, she shows no signs of health problems or challenges with developmental milestones, stated by her mother. Child Care History Information was retrieve by a parent questionnaire filled out by childs mother. T.C. has been in a total of two child care situations outside of home. T.C. has been in Child Care since she was five months old. T.C.s mother describes the setting of the center as fun, educational, and a learning environment. T.C.s mother also states that there were two teachers in the classroom but is not sure of the group size. T.C.s mother is unaware of the philosophy but states that the center most likely had a philosophy. The center was a multi-racial center but T.C. was the only child of African American decent. The ages in the classroom are between two and a half and four year olds. At the center there was parent involvement and T.C.s mom also states that she takes time to volunteer to help out. In the area of physical development T.C. is moving in nonlocomotor and locomotor ways; she is very active and shows signs of being actively engaged in all activities. She meets these milestones by displaying the actions of nonlocomotor ways; bending, twisting rocking, and swinging arms, she is also able to move with objects and can express herself through music and movement. She loves to dance and sing. Also she displays signs by locomotor

ways; running, jumping, hopping, skipping marching and climbing. T.C. is very active on the playground. She climbs the playscape, slides down the slide and is also pedaling n the tricycle. In the area of social-emotional development T.C. is able to take care of her own needs, she is the caregiver in the classroom; she is very outgoing when it comes to the needs of the other children in the classroom. She is always helping children with coats, getting the tissue, sharing toys and asking if the other children want to play. T.C. does struggle in the area of expressing her feelings; she has a hard time dealing with social conflict. She tends to cry, and scream at the other children if there is something bothering her. She is very creative on the other hand. When playing with other children, T.C. is most likely the one who will come up with an idea for play. In the area of cognitive development, T.C. is able to recognize all letters in the alphabet; she can also recognize numbers 1-10 and is beginning to recall 11-15. She recognizes all basic shapes, and is learning octagon, and hexagon. She has started to become familiar with sequencing and patterning, as well. In the area of language development T.C. is able to comprehend conversations, she is outspoken and eager to learn new language. T.C. will repeat words after they are spoken and is asking the meaning of new words. During quiet time T.C. reads books in a conventional manner, holding the book and points to words in the story. T.C. is writing with her right hand, she holds most utensils and objects with this hand as well. She can copy letters/numbers written and is starting to formulate the concept on her own.

During creative expression T.C. is engaged in activities that peak her senses. She works well and shows curiosity in sensory exploration. T.C. does not mind getting dirty, or messy. She also will sing songs randomly throughout the day. When it is time for music, T.C. will usually be engaged with the loudest instrument, tambourine, drum, or sand paper squares. T.C.s approach to learning is able to solve problems during play with other children, and is able to make and express her interest. She takes the initiative to explore and finish tasks that she sets out and ones that are directed, however, she is still developing in the area of confidence, independence and persistence. T.C. shows compassion to the other children by including children during play; she asks children to play with her and shares the toys. I am eager to see her interact with the other children. She engages in open play, and shows empathy towards the children and teachers. My recommendations to support T.C. continual growth would to allow her to gain more responsibilities within the classroom. I would allow her to make more independent choices which would allow her to grow emotionally. I would also recommend that she work on being engaged in conflict resolution, or social problem solving. This will give her the confidence she needs to take on more complex problems. T.C. shows strength with in the areas of language development and cognitive development, I would continue to introduce new skills with classifying materials, predicting what will happen next and communicating her ideas. T.C. has grasped the concept of connecting spoken

words and print. I would build on this skill by introducing more print rich material and sight words to the environment. T.C. shows knowledge of math concepts and is recognizing some numbers, and number words. I would continue to introduce her to numbers and symbols. T.C. is counting to 50 and shows interest by counting objects in the classroom. I would introduce her to the concept of comparing and sorting quantizes, this will help with building her math skills. T.C. is a very independent child who works well individually. She tends to have difficulty expressing her concerns when she is upset, I would continue introducing her to participate in making classroom decisions. She can participate as leader within the classroom and at home, to have her share more ideas and to resolve group problems. T.C. was such a joy to watch and speak with. Her initiative towards learning is positive and natural. I also enjoyed watching her manipulate and explore the classroom; there was never a dull moment.

I would like to thank Ms. Keisha and her preschool class for allowing me to be a part of their classroom, and to Ms. Berry for giving me the chance to observe her child, also a big thanks to T.C. for allowing me the chance to understand, communicate and learn with. Thank you to all the staff, teachers and parents for supporting me along my educational journey.
