Seam Samples

1. Fold a piece of fabric. Pin and cut two sample seam patterns on the solid line. Be sure to cut around the notch.

2. Straight Stitch with ZigZag Finish a. b. c. d. Place fabric right sides together and pin notched edges even on two pieces of fabric. Straight stitch 5/8 in. from notched edge. Backstitch at start and end. Zig zag the edge of the seam allowance. Press to one side and staple this sample on the A at the bottom of this paper.

3. French Seam a. Pin notched edge of fabric wrong sides together. Stitch in. seam with backstitch. b. Trim seam to 1/8 in. width. c. Fold back right sides together and press seam to edge without indenting. d. Stitch 3/8 in. from seam edge with backstitch start and end. e. Press to one side and staple sample on the B on bottom of this paper.
