Back-up data files even if user says that they have backed up his/her data.
o .pst, .pab, bookmark.htm, Favorites, My Documents
o Check for data files not in My Documents (i.e. ppt, doc, xls, mdb)
Format the computer.
Update BIOS if necessary. (See Computer Services Y2K documentation for models that need
BIOS updates.)
Load Disk Image.
Check network connectivity.
Check Display properties.
Change computer name to the last 6 digits of the property tag and department initials, i.e.
000987asac.
Change the hostname in the DNS properties to the computer name.
Map Network Drives.
o Departmental (h:\)
o Fgcu-marlin\share (g:\)
Install Network Printer.
Open a case with IT or Student Services if other software needs to be install, i.e. Banner, SPSS,
etc.
Drop-Off Checklist
Connect computer and peripherals.
Have user login with his/her username.
Copy user’s data back to the computer. Place files in the correct location.
Check Network Neighborhood.
Check Internet browsing.
Check bookmarks and/or favorites in browsers.
Open Exchange and Schedule+.
Map and check personal address book, and personal folders.
Print a test page.
Reboot the computer and have user login again.
Fill out all property transfer forms and have them signed.
