Purpose of visit: To see another teacher and classroom in action and gather new ideas/ strategies for your own classroom and teaching practice in reading. Guidelines: You are in the classroom primarily to learn and observe. However, use this opportunity to get involved too. Ask the children what they are learning and why they are learning it. Think about where you are at with teaching reading strategies during the Reading Workshop. Look at where the teacher is with teaching reading strategies during the Reading Workshop. What can you learn from your visit? Think about where you are at with Learning Intentions and Success Criteria in the Reading Workshop. Look at where the teacher is with their Learning Intention and Success Criteria in the Reading Workshop. What can you learn form your visit?

In choosing to observe this person, what do you hope to see? - Making the learning intentions and success criteria clear. - Determining importance in non-fiction texts - Guidelines for what I am looking for. - Assess in pairs how successful. What was the Learning Intention and reading strategy for the reading workshop? Looking for key words in a non-fiction text to write a summary using all the key words and only 20 words. Were the Learning Intention and Success Criteria for the reading workshop clearly stated and visible? I have shown you a sample of what I expect your summary will look like setting out, underlining key words, you will be able to get a good idea of my expectations as you can look at my model on the floor. The learning intention and success criteria were also written on the communication board. Were the Learning Intention and Success Criteria for the reading workshop monitored throughout the lesson and re stated? Sharee went to every group and gave feedback about how they were going both positive and constructive. At the end of the lesson was the Learning Intention and Success criteria reflected upon?
