What Students Have to Say

What did you see was the purpose of the electronic portfolio? In what ways did you feel you were adequately able to provide evidence electronically of meeting course objectives? How do you compare paper with electronic portfolios? What were the most enjoyable parts of preparing your electronic portfolio?

What did you see as the purpose?

One of the big things that we need to start getting used to now is all the technology to show that I had met the necessary objectives for the class and that I understood that I met the objectives Its a culmination of the things we learned...a way of assessing what weve done At first it was pretty pointless to methe whole endeavor seemed like a waste of time

In what ways could you provide adequate evidence of meeting objectives?

I feel that I had enough evidence at the time of construction to support all of my domainswhat I could not type in could be scanned in, so it resembles my text portfolio as far as artifacts go I think most of it was probably through the explanation of why I picked what artifacts, not necessarily just sticking them in thereI was able to reflect more yesyou get more out of doing something like this and reflecting back on it, rather than having to regurgitate what you did

How do you compare paper with electronic portfolios?

paper is easier but electronic is more valuable to meeasier to navigateI like the look and the convenience I think electronic portfolios are a lot easier to look at, because you can go to exactly where you want and you can find ityou dont have to flip through tons and tons of paperwork It is a lot cheaper! No expensive paper, plastic sleeves, or binder to buyvery compact and easily copied and edited

What were the most enjoyable parts of preparing your electronic portfolio?
To have everything (evidence) on one disk soif I wanted to apply for a job in another city, I could mail my portfolio to the potential employer and they could see evidence of my experience and abilities while concurrently getting an idea of my personality I think the final product. I was really happy with it I like that you could add a lot of multimedia stuff and you can have music andthe possibilities are endless seeing how easily it all flowed together
