Background of the Study (Visible Thinking) is one of the initiatives of %ro*ect +ero ,n the words of researchers %atricia %almer- !avid %erkins- .on .itchhart- Shari Tishman- /Visible Thinking is a flexible and systematic research0based approach to integrating the development of students1 thinking with content learning across sub*ect matters2 Scope of the study The research on the development of Visible thinking classroom practices were mainly based on the 301$ setup in various schools in 4orth 5merica- Europe and 5ustralia 4o conclusive research "to the knowledge of the author# has been conducted on the effectiveness of Visible Thinking strategies on adult ESL learners 6urther this study aims also to explore the classroom management dynamics which is hitherto unexplored in any setting Proposed Methodology ,t is proposed that the impact of these routines be studied by selecting an experimental and a control group of adult ESL learners- comprising of students of bachelors degree in engineeringin their first year 5fter exposing the experimental group to the thinking routines for over a period of more than a year- The following would be compared against the control group: 1 $ & .ate of Second Language 5c7uisition !evelopment of 'ritical Thinking abilities Effectiveness of 'lassroom 8anagement
