Jamie Boon Ideas about Representation The ideas about representation that I wish to include in my music video are

through the representation of young people in society and the media. In recent years particularly, young people have often been represented in the media as thugs and up to no good, which will feature in my music video. This particular idea features more than once in my music video, as there is a young male character that finds a gun and decides to use it and eventually ends up hurting someone. The idea also features in my music video as there is a burglar character who is also a young male and he attempts to rob a house. The other idea about representation that is shown in my music video is about gender representation. When young people are often represented as bad people in the media it is usually teenage males, which is the same demographic as the two characters in my music video. Gender representation also reoccurs in my music video as the male character also finds and makes use of a gun. Generally, males would be more interested in guns than females and this is shown in society with the majority of associations that use guns (police, army) are male dominated. Another potential idea about representation could be that some young people are lazy and unproductive. This idea is shown in my music video at the near start, where the protagonist is doing some work and then gives up on it, throwing the work to one side. Similarly, my target audience is this demographic, so they will be able to relate to all of these ideas about representation.
