Discourse Community Response

Shantal Oropeza English 1311 We live in a world were communication plays a major role in peoples life. Discourse community involves a group that has things in common which contribute together in chats. Family, Music, and religion contribute in this community as they distribute common goals in their areas of interests. Family in a discourse community can be spread to many varieties such as the family we share a ruff, to cousins, to people you play in a team with. Our ways of one interacting is a lot more different being from a Hispanic family we use a lot of slangs to make a point across such as pintele a la casa meaning to go home. One thing that is of big significance is that we have respect for one another though we come cross through some emotions of conflict either with our parents, friends, cousins we find a way to fix it . We differentiate in many ways but we stick together we stay in touch through media such as facebook , text messages, or post cards to show we care and love for them. Music in discourse community is quiet universal it has big meaning to many people, whether it expresses ones thought or determine ones mood. Many people come together in concerts to experience the tunes we many are passionate about. Text is pretty spread, words get around either thorought bill boards, radio station that has concert tickets or television commercials. People use language to show their excitement, thats my jam right their bro! Music as a discourse community can be classified in a many ways. People who share the same interest of music try to relate to it through image whether its country music which it can be cowboys boots, cowboy hat or rock music which is tight skinny jeans, black shirt.

Religion in discourse community always has big impact when it comes down to the peers that you will be surrounded by. We connect better with the ones that share same beliefs and same traditions. Language can be different but profanity is not something that is used knowing its invokes bad vibes into the community. We pray to the saints, or angels, we use candles to worship and show our gratitude to god. The purpose of the community is to share one belief together to speak through biblical references and scriptures. Whether by reading the bible through church, at home, or confirmation we all come across the same rode as to what our religion is. Discourse community varies in many ways it involves different communities that share same common interest which brings them together. As previously said communication plays a big role either visually written or orally they all play important parts in the group.
