A highly motivated third year undergraduate in Biosciences at University of Exeter Cornwall Campus seeking to conduct research on the effects of anthropogenic change and environmental stressors upon organisms. With a particular interest in marine systems.

Education and Qualifications 2011 to present BSc Conservation Biology and Ecology University of Exeter Cornwall Campus - 3rd year project; The effects of anthropogenic light on the orientation of Chelonia mydas and Caretta caretta hatchlings in Northern Cyprus. Modules including; Marine Vertebrate Conservation. - 1st in 2nd year modules; Animal Ecophysiology (72%), Biodiversity and Conservation (88%), - 1st in 1st year. 2009 to 2011 A-Level (As- level) Cirencester College A*- Biology, A* Geography, A Textile Design, B General Studies B Music (As) 2004 to 2009 GCSE Cirencester Deer Park School 13, including English, Maths, and Science (all A*/A), DiDA IT.

Relevant Experience & Achievements 2014 Bahamas Field course - Cape Eleuthera Institute - Week field course successfully undertaking group projects. Experience in sampling and recording in mangrove and marine habitats. Partaking in numerous discussions about current issues such as marine pollution. 2013 Returnee Team leader Marine Turtle conservation Project, Cyprus - Securing permission to collect data for self generated research project. Established further monitoring and assessment on both adult and hatchling turtle activities. Gaining the responsibility of running numerous beaches and training new volunteers, as well as leading public excavations talks including the current anthropogenic threats to turtles. 2012 Laboratory Volunteer Assistant, Exeter University, Cornwall Volunteering alongside PhD students working upon experimental evolution experiments on Drosophila. Gaining experience in working within laboratory environment and data recording, and transfer, counting and sexing of flies. 2012 Team member, Marine Turtle Conservation Project, Cyprus Working as part of research team, engaging with and raising the awareness of members of the public about the importance for marine conservation, working with hatching turtles on the beaches on data collection. Private and public nest excavations and hatchling releases, beach cleaning and fundraising. 2012 Corin Award for Biological Sciences Nominated by staff member of Cirencester College to receive this sponsored award for outstanding work in Biology. 2012 Basking Shark Surveying Course, Cornwall Wildlife Trust Developing surveying skills for basking sharks but also a number of other marine organisms, new knowledge of the biology of the species and teamwork.

2011 Marine Mammal Rescue Course, Silver Dolphin Penzance learning the processes in the rescue of a stranded marine mammal, acquiring new knowledge on stranded species and practical rescue in addition to attending presentation on marine threats such as pollution. 2010 Volunteer, Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust Working at a local Water Park Reserve. Learning practical conservation skills in habitat management, communication and team work with other volunteers, and specialist work on Dragonfly breeding data collection.

Teamwork - Involved in working in a small team in Marine Turtle Conservation Project organise data collection and living. - Volunteering as part as Eco Society BioBlitz team. - Playing for various bands and ensembles practising with people of all ages to perform in concerts and participate in charity events. Communication - Delivering oral presentations to peer coaching group, weekly talk to 1st year students on a range of topics. - Talking and discussing the importance to marine turtle conservation to the public and explaining the role of the MTCP. Developing effective teaching skills for job as s classical guitar teacher. Leadership - Organising weekly topics for peer coaching groups and finding important current information to deliver. - Running weekly guitar lessons for pupils as well as the role of junior team leader at many Corinium Players Guitar ensemble. Led rehearsals, organised timing, teaching new pieces, engaging and developing fun sessions for the younger members. - Returning as a team leader for MTCP. Other - Retail skills and communication with customers as a volunteer in Age Concern charity shop. - Exeter award self-development through a range of courses and development of problem solving skills. - PADI Open Water Diver.

Interests Sports Member of Cornwall Octopush (underwater hockey), regular runner, yoga classes, horse riding. Art Drawing, sketching and painted, reading upon artists work particularly Monet and Renoir. Music learning classical guitar and member of Corinium Players Guitar Ensemble for 11 years. Also playing bass/double bass in various community jazz bands and singing in choirs. References available on request
