What is TSEC?

The Tata Social Enterprise Challenge is a joint initiative between the TATA group and IIM Calcutta to promote, nurture and support social enterprises in India. Our distinguished team of partners, business leaders, faculty members from IIM Calcutta and VCs will guide and mentor the participants to take their venture to the next level.

What are we looking for?

We are in our second edition and are looking for ideas (both of Indian and foreign origin) which can impact the social space in India. This idea can be an existing venture which is less than 3 years old or can just be an idea with a prototype. Both for-profit and non-profit organizations are free to participate and judging criteria for both would be separate.

What is in it for you?

Top 20 teams make it to the semi-final stage wherein they get allotted offline mentors who will guide them towards improving their business models for a period of 6 weeks. No personal meetings will take place at this stage. These 20 teams will then pitch to a panel of some of the largest VCs and business leaders in the country in the IIM Calcutta campus (partially reimbursed for upto 2 members per team), from where the top 10 teams will make it to the finals. The finalists will receive inperson mentorship from our esteemed partners, business leaders, faculty members and VCs. The top ten teams will then battle it out in the final in which the top 3 teams will receive cash grants amounting to a total of 4 lakh INR( 1.75;1.25;1). The top 20 teams will also have an opportunity to get incubated at IIM Calcutta and join other distinguished incubates like Doctors for You. A thematic workshop will also be conducted before the finals which will give the teams a great chance for networking. Login to www.tatasechallenge.org for further details
