EGYPTIAN ART
Ancient egyptian art is the painting , sculpture, architecture and other arts produced by the civilization of ancient egypt.

Egyptian artists usually painted palace , ceiling, floors and walls with elaborate designs and representations.

Artists also painted the walls of temples and tombs wooden and stone statues and the surfaces of coffins, boxes and furniture .

EGYPTIAN MOTIFS
Egyptian motifs were derived either from the natural world or from religious symbolism. These motifs appear in the decoration of temples, tombs, furniture, utilitarian objects, clothing and most often in jewellry or decorative accessories of clothing.

MOTIFS
1. Eye of Horus representation of human eye, symbolized the moon. 2. Kheper, the scarab beetle, means to become or to evolve. It is an amulet in life and in death aymbolizing rebirth.

3. The shen sign , a ring of rope , symbolizes all that the sun encircle . As amulets, knots and ropes provide protection. 4. The ankh, possibly a sandal strap or an elaborate bow,means life and to live. It is held by deities who frequently offers it the kings face .

COLORS
Colors not only had aesthetic appeal but also had symbolic meaning. *. Blue , was associated with water , The Nile. *. Green ,for vegetation. *. Yellow and gold stood for the sun sun God.

*. Red and red orange, had comlex meaning involving the desert, power, blood and vitality. *. Black , was the color of night and the underworld but also, the color of the fertile soil of the Nile.

COLORS

Gender was indicated by colors as well as costume. It was a convention to portray men with reddish-brown skin and women with a yellowish-brown color.
