Media Project Assignment Due: November 21/22, B/T & 2nd

In class, we have been discussing the significance of media and how it consciously and subconsciously infiltrates our lives. We have learned specific techniques that media can use to captivate their audience, and now, it is your turn to reel in an audience. The purpose of this project is for you to create a product you care about and persuade your audience to care using the techniques we have learned in class. You will act as an entrepreneur selling a product to potential investors (i.e., your classmates who will be evaluating you). This is an opportunity to exercise your creative juices, so impress me, and impress your peers.

Part 1
As an individual or with a partner, you will create a product. Yes, you can create anything, as long as it is thoughtful and school appropriate. To convince the potential investors that your product is worth their time and money, you must create an advertisement for your product. Think about the significance of aesthetics when convincing your potential investors. A product may be fantastic, but if the advertisement is poor, it does not matter. Your advertisement must include the following: Name of product Explanation of the products use or purpose Target audience or who you expect to buy your product A visual of your product Logo OR slogan 3 different techniques o Bandwagon o Negative Appeal o Testimonial o Prestige o Transfer o Glittering Generalities o Repetition o Wit & Humor o Snobbery o Sounds Good (jingles) o Positive Appeal o Weasel Words A separate sheet of paper that has a 3-5 sentence explanation for how you demonstrate each technique (i.e., this means you will be turning in 3 different explanations)

Part 2
The final part of your project is the presentation component. The purpose of this presentation is to convince potential investors that your product is truly worth it. As an entrepreneur, think about your body language and speech habits you will need to adopt in order to successfully persuade investors. Your presentation should last 3-5 minutes, and you will be timed, so prepare accordingly. Your presentation may come to fruition in the following formats: Website Poster Video/Commercial PowerPoint/Google presentation Prezi Got another idea? Lets talk.

With the exception of the poster, you must email your presentation, email a link to the website or video, or share (Google drive or Prezi) with kkennedy@k12albemarle.org by 11:59 PM, November 20th/21st (B/T & 2nd). Grading Information & Organization Presentation Quality Preparation
