    NELSON MANDELA

    Nelson Mandela was elected president of the Republic of South Africa in 1994. In 1995, I landed in South Africa for my undergraduate studies. If Nelson Mandela had not carried out the struggle against the apartheid regime, then surely foreigners of colored skin like me would have never been allowed entry into a prestigious South African University in 1995. My studies in South Africa have profoundly marked my life and shaped my destiny for the better. I had the privilege of being a front neighbour of the Presidential residence in Cape-Town for a year during the presidency of Mr. Nelson Mandela. I remain forever indebted to you Madiba.
