LESSON

Display a popular movie poster on the SMART Board. Ask students to point out what they see, notice, wonder, etc. Ask students how the poster makes them feel? Ask students if they feel the poster is effective does it make them want to see the movie? Point out another poster around the classroom. Ask students the same kinds of questions. Ultimately, is the poster effective
TIME
LESSON Development Explain to students that they will be working in small groups of 3-4 students to create their own posters about one of the characters in the book Grandpa Chatterji by Jamila Gavin The characters to choose from include: Neetu Sanjay Grandpa Chatterji Grand Leicester Their poster will have to be effective in portraying the personality of the character. Its viewers will have to be able to look at it and understand what the character is like. Assign student groups and characters. Students who have already finished the book will form the first groups. Students who have not yet finished reading should use this class to continue reading. Allow time for students to work on their posters.
