Prostitution is the practice or occupation of engaging in sexual activity with someone in return for money.

Prostitution goes back to the ancient times beginning in the third millennium B.C. (Fanni 2013). Mesopotamian religious practices gave birth to the prostitution trade where the women would sell their sacred bodies for the men to enter their temples (Fanni 2013). The first account of prostitution in the Bible is found in Genesis, where Judah one of Jacobs twelve sons, descended from Abraham paid the bride price, in accordance with Israelite custom, for Tamar and gave her to his eldest son. Today the sex trade continues as it always has, with many governments officially maintaining its illegality, while some restrict certain sex trade-related activities and others keep it legal and regulated. Performing the acts of prostitution make a woman look filthy and whorish. Prostitutes are some reasons why families become broken, destroyed and weak, why children are ashamed of their mothers, and why spreading of disease rates are continuous. The disease rates in prostitutes range and vary in different states and countries. Many women confess that

their prostitution career started off when they were just 14 years old, pushed into it illegally. Many of these prostitutes (80% of them) wish to get out of prostitution but are afraid of the consequences of leaving. 58% of prostitutes are violently assaulted by their clients. (The Prostitution Statistics You Have to Know 2013). The HIV/AIDS epidemic keeps growing, 15% of prostitutes who have been on the job for at least six months already have an STD. Clients believe that buying a young prostitute, from the age of 14 to 18, will give them a less chance of getting an STD, when really, it doesnt make any difference; they do not know whos been with the most or least clients. The young girls who become prostitutes, they either ran away from home or were forced into the business. These young girls are not living a healthy lifestyle. When a woman becomes a prostitute, their life changes. They begin to have a lot of sex, begin doing drugs, begin to get STDs, pass on STDs, and destroy their families (if they have any). Prostitution should be illegal everywhere around the globe and should have an end to it to save these women. If

more police would take on John Details (a variation used against street prostitution where police officers, usually women, pose as prostitutes in order to arrest johns who solicit them for sex), the number of prostitutes and buyers would decrease (Criminal Justice: The Essentials 3rd Edition 2013). Its common sense, most prostitutes have already been exposed to STDs and people knows that theyre SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED, so why do the clients still insist on having sexual relations with them? Stopping prostitution would benefit a lot to society. No more broken families due to prostitution. No more easy spread of STDs. Less abortions and less children sent to foster homes.
