Connor Kokott 11/22/13 GEOG 1300 Can Israel survive without a Palestinian state?

Comparing Israel to Palestine is like comparing gasoline to your engine. With Israel being the engine, it needs the gasoline, or Palestine, to flourish. However, they are made up of completely different objects and hold a hold a value of which cant be made similar. What is brought up here are two completely different ethnic lifestyles; Palestinian Arabs like to have their life revolve around tangible objects and judge themselves based upon their daily encounters with the conclusions of their emotions; Israelis believe in such a greater power that they need to make right for the Jewish population in this world for what they believe in or they will fail Gods wishes. Now, the land and government of these two groups is up for debate. The Arabs want a liberal Democracy while the Orthodox Jews want to turn this Holy land into an extreme Jewish state. Many higher power individuals of the Jewish and Arab populations believe that the only way to end the conflict and suffering is to separate the land into two states. Currently there are thousands of Jewish settlements within Palestine and this is where they flourish. They practice gospel readings here, live off welfare, and simply stay alive. They also do not hold jobs or enlist in the Palestinian military. Enlisting in the military in Palestine is a mandatory action and all must serve. This was made relevant after countless times of Palestinian military keeping them safe. With that being said it must be well known that in fact the Jews living here are not learning Judaism at all. They are just learning how to repeat the things they can remember by heart. So I ask myself how much of this religion are they actually preserving, and how much are the contributing to new discoveries within itself? Well, when it comes down to it, it doesnt sound like very much at all. Another point that is to be brought up is the violence and control of power provided from the Jewish peoples. The Jews continue to use violent acts as a way to become powerful within their settlements. They build big communities up on hills that disrupt the farm land and make it difficult for the Arabs to travel; having to go through gates. This violence shows us that they are unwilling to make peace and separate because they are just adding fuel to the fire. However, there have been times when Palestinians use forms of nonviolent protests to prove to them that they are the ultimate power and what should ultimately rule. Finally, Israel would not be able to survive without a Palestinian state. Having no sufficient military structure to defend themselves with all the violent prone acts they like to partake in is the major concern. And they also take way too much control of power to ever satisfy a population in full.
