References Barrett J. R. (2009). Music education at a crossroads: Realizing the goal of music for all.

Reston, VA: in partnership with MENC The argument that the author is doing in this book is that Music Education should be considered just as important as any other type of education because of the importance and impact it creates on culture and creativity. The author also talks about self expression and individuality, he references to this two terms because he believes that one of the ways we can express ourselves better is by using our culture and where we are from. He also says that by doing this we will be able to show our creativity better and be able to speak our mind better. This will help in my research because it shows that not only does music education help the way we are, and our skills but also it helps us to be more communicative and to develop more as persons Barrett, M. S. (2011). A cultural psychology of music education. Oxford, NY : Oxford University Press. The author of this book goes into detail about how music education is part of different cultures. It talks about how the way we learn and develop our understanding of music is affected by our surroundings that different environments to which everyone are exposed to. The book also goes into how the practice of music teaching and the methods that are used change depending on where it is being learned and teached. The way that this book will help me in my research is that I will be able to not look into just one music program but look into different ones. For example different types of music and also programs in different parts of the city

because in some parts music is not seen as important and are very small programs, but some schools give a lot to the band programs and are just as important as a sport would be. Goble, J. S. (2010). What's so important about music education?. Routledge, NY. This book has some really interesting chapters in my opinion because it brings up the past in a way and it is going to help me with my research because the author does a lot of references towards a theory of the effects on social life and also explains different methods and what he thins of them. The book talks about how music education can be traced back to the history of the United States. The author mentions how the word music was seen differently in certain eras: Worship in colonial America, art during the enlightment era, and product in the science and technology era. The author pretty much just presents his theory of music in a social way, and he justifies the different ideas he proposes throughout his chapters. Mursell, J. L. Human values in music education. Boston, NY: Silver, Burdett and company. This author describes the learning of music as something different, not Just as adding to the learning and education but more like as the growth of knowledge and the evolution of understanding. He talk about a method of teaching where instead of teaching basics to someone and helping them work from nothing, he wants students to add to something they like and know very well in order to be able to turn it into something better while developing skills at the same time. The way he describes learning is different to the other descriptions I have seen and I think it will help me

in my research because now not only will I have different effects but different effect considering different learning methods. Pitts, L. B. (2013) Music education, isolated or integrated?. Music Educators journal 100 (59), 1-5 DOI: 10.1177/0027432113490671 This article is very interesting because it refers to music education as the creative process of learning to live it may have only mentioned it about two or three times in the article but stuck because the author described the ability to be able to learn music as a n opportunity to go beyond just the basic subjects of education, it also talks about how it is more than just music, it is also creativity culture and social and we should really try to keep it in the school programs because it is something that is inspirational. This article is going to help me in my research because it is very I guess persuasive, but only because it makes music seem like something that is just so amazing and out of this world. Shuler, S. C. (2012) Music education for life: Core music education: Students civil right. Music Educators Journal 98 (7), 1-6 DOI: 10.1177/0027432112446912 This article is not really about the way music education should be teached, or about common methods that might be wrongly used. It talks about how the educators should get together and forget about the fact that some are in higher-level schools, and that some are in schools that are specialized in different subjects. Educators should not pay attention to this and try to give every student an education where they can learn about everything not just some subjects. Not just music but also different art classes because there will not be success unless students can have an

education that covers every base available and every student out there should have the right to learn music and make it a core subject to them. This article was a little different from the other books and articles because even though it focuses on why music education should be a right to every student it also mentions others such as art classes.
