COURSE DESCRIPTION
Interior Design One gives students the opportunity to explore the world of professional design. While working in groups and alone, students will develop the necessary skills to further an education in the field of interior design.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
-Identify the terms associated with the color wheel and the major color schemes. -Identify and explain the basic elements of design or tools used to create a design: line, shape, form, space, texture, pattern, and color.

-Identify the two basic types of design. -Demonstrate and apply professional design presentation techniques. -Identify and explain the basic principles of design or the rules or guidelines of design: scale, proportion, balance, rhythm, emphasis/focal point and harmony. -Explain the design and function of interior space.

*Each student will be provided with a copy of the textbook that they are responsible for and required to return at the end of the semester.

ASSIGNMENTS
Due dates are subject to change and will only be done so to extend student work time. All changes will be announced in class and posted on the course website. All assignments are expected to be turned in on their assigned, or reassigned due date.

SEMESTER ASSIGNMENTS
ATTENDANCE: 5 POINTS PER DAY = JOURNAL/ SKETCH ENTRIES 5 POINTS EACH= PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES: 20 PTS EACH= FINAL PROJECT/ PORTFOLIO= 100 100 200 200

Assignments turned in on their due date will receive 1 (one) bonus point as a reward for being timely.
Any assignment that is turned in during the next scheduled meeting time will be eligible for full credit but will not receive a bonus point. 10% will automatically be deducted for any assignment turned in after the one-day grace period unless prior arrangements have been made due to illness or vacation. Any assignment turned in 5 (five) scheduled class periods after the due date is no longer eligible to receive a graded score, but must still be turned in if the student wishes to complete an end of term extra credit project.
