Humanities 1100 Reflection - Before taking this class I only had the basic understandings of what social responsibility

really entailed. After going through this class it has opened my eyes to how much more responsibility the citizens should have, and that I was very nave on what is really going on in our country. I have never really dealt with a lot of diversity in my life from religion to cultures. After learning in the class it has shocked me to see and hear the abuse people in different races deal with, it amazed me and made me sick to know all the different abuse still going on in the US today. We say we have freedom in United States, but Im questioning that more now than I ever did before in my life. So many people that have lost their life for believing they had the freedom to speak. Jesus himself was one of many lives that were lost when he spoke out, there was a variety of different people speaking out for different reasons not just their religion that cost them their life. We are all Gods children, and we have all come from around the world to make the United States our home. Politics and the justice system shouldnt be able to be paid off for the people that have sinned to get away from their necessary punishment. I believe we the people of United States have become greedy, thinking we can get away with anything if we know the right people or have the money to pay the justice system off. There are so many different cultures that have been punished not for what theyve done but for who they are. The Americans have said how bad the Germans are for what they did to the Jews yet look what we did to the Japanese that are US citizens when the Japanese hit Pearl Harbor. Although we didnt put the Japanese in the gas chamber, we took away all of their personal belongings and corralled them to a different state giving them very little to live off of. The way Americans treated the African people after we brought them to the United States to make them our slaves and then killed them for living in our states. However I dont believe it was right for the Africans to start the riots (known as the Zoot Suites) in California, a lot of blood spilled for what? Since all of us are all different I think we all need to respect each other with their own family / heritage traditions, which includes using Gods name in our Pledge of Allegiance. White people need their traditions as well as the Spanish or any other cultural needs theirs. Going over the religious history of the Hinduism, Buddism, and Christianity confused me more and opened up more questions than Ive ever had before. However I do believe we all started religions at the same place and it branched off from there, into different beliefs and names. I dont believe that one religion is better than the next, and I dont believe anyone should be forced to believe in any religion, it should be choice, your own choice.

This was a very hard class, it opened up more door and more questions. I believe these topics have so much depth in them than one person could take their whole life time trying to figure out he answers and never being able to fully understand the reasoning behind it all.
