Lesson Body (70 minutes) (Interior Design I, Practical Reasoning Teaching Strategy)
Design Scenarios: Introduce the design assignment. Each group will read through their design scenario, evaluate the furniture items, and use those items to create a furniture arrangement that will meet the couples needs. After each group has created their furniture arrangement, they will join together with the group that has the corresponding scenario (groups 1 & 2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6). The groups will compare their decisions and evaluate their designs. Presentations: Each group will present their design plans to the class. Points to discuss: Why did you make the decisions that you did? What are the strong points of your furniture arrangement/ Are there any weak points? How will you convince the family to choose your option?

Reflection: Each student will write up a reflection about their groups approach to the design scenario, in which students will evaluate their chosen furniture arrangement. If students do not finish, it will be completed for homework.

Transition (5 minutes):
Direct the students to clean up all materials and get ready to go. Students will sit quietly in their desks until the bell rings.

Summary/Closure (2 minutes):
When students finish cleaning up, sum up the main learning points of the day. Encourage students to evaluate furniture arrangement throughout the school, at their house, or wherever else they may go.

Assessment/Evaluation:
Students will turn in their project plans for a group grade. The reflection will be turned in for an individual grade. While the students are working on their design plans, the teacher will walk around to ensure participation from all students.
