COURSE SUMMARY COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course provides an opportunity for students to work on a comprehensive project that includes the design, planning and implementation of a network solution for solving specific business problems. Common project management processes are applied to identify deliverables and outcomes of the project.

You will also need to justify your recommendations. APPENDIX A PROJECT PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Project Introduction: For this project, you need to design, at a top level, an enterprise-wide telecommunications network for the company described in the scenario that follows. This is a team-based project that requires every team member to work diligently and closely to deliver a quality project on time. The instructor will assign you to a group for the project. Names of the group members will be posted in the course announcements section.
In this project, you will design a complete (high level) network for a fictitious organization. You will have to meet some technical customer requirements, keep the network managed and running at its best performance, and ensure that the network is pretty secure. The design for this network begins by designing the local network, at each of the provided locations, and then connecting all the offices together in an effective Wide Area Network (WAN) Design. The network design will include both voice and data sharing. Microsoft Project will be used as a tool to organize and manage the complete project, and it will include budget and schedule.
This is a practical project that can be used to enhance your resume; it will showcase your expertise in Microsoft Project and Network Design. The knowledge acquired throughout the program at ITT Tech will be reviewed and applied in the project.
Scenario: ABC Company with worldwide offices in the U.S. (San Francisco, Detroit, Washington, Indianapolis, Tampa), Europe (Paris, Liverpool), Japan (Tokyo), and South America (Sao Paulo), is engaged in the development of audio and video special effects for the entertainment and advertising industry. The main design centers are in San Francisco, Detroit, Paris, Tokyo, and Sao Paulo. Corporate Headquarters are in San Francisco. The remaining offices are sales offices. Consider the company to operate on a 24x7 basis, because it is global. Each group is tasked with the following: 1. Design a network structure, which will: a. b. Handle a constant stream of multimedia traffic between offices, with average file sizes being 25MB. Have a desired response time of no more than 5 seconds, from any office to any office, for file transfers of 25MB. c. Have a desired response time of no more than 20 seconds between workstations for data transfer of a file size as big as 50 MB. As in the design centers, multimedia (audio and video) files are the general files worked on and average file sizes are 50MB of combined data.
