SECTION C: MINI CASE ANALYSIS (25 MARKS) Answer ALL the questions based on the mini case below in the answer booklet provided. Matahari Kindergarten* is a small pre-school in a new residential area in a small town. The school has been operating for six months and provides education for children aged between 4 to 6 years old. There are separate curriculums for the different age groups (4, 5 and 6 years old) that are in line with the one prescribed by the ministry. At present, there are only 20 children registered at the school but since it is the only preschool in the residential area, Aishah* (the owner) is optimistic that the number will increase soon when more people move into the area. At present, the kindergarten employs 3 teachers who are responsible to teach various subjects. All the teachers have no teaching experience but they have diploma in early childhood. Despite the small number of student, Aishah strongly believes that the school has a good prospect. However, she is quite upset when one day all the 3 teachers meet her and complain about their low salary. They compared their salary with their friends who are mostly working in urban areas. They claim that their tasks and responsibilities are almost similar with those in other schools and really look forward to higher salary. *Note: all the names are not real. 1. Aishah has to convince the teachers that the salary rate offered to them is fair. Assume you were Aishah, explain THREE factors that you have considered in determining their pay. (10 Marks)

Islam makes it compulsory for managers and business owners to be fair to all employees. This is especially important when it comes to appraising employees performance that determines many things like salary increment, bonus and promotion. Recommend to Aishah FIVE major criteria that should be used in the performance appraisal of the pre-school teachers. (15 Marks)
