Gong Cave

Gong cave is located in the Bomo village, Punung district, Pacitan regency, East Java Indonesia. It is around 18 miles away from Pacitan city. Furthermore, Pacitan is famous as the city of thousand caves. Gong cave is one of potential caves tourist destination in Pacitan. Moreover,

this cave is named Gong cave because the sound of gong is often heard from inside the cave. Gong cave is considered to be the most beautiful cave in Southeast Asia. The uniqueness of this cave is the stalactite and stalagmite formation make sounds like a gong when it is struck. For additional ,Gong is a Javanese music instrument plays as the ending tone. Inside the cave there is a walkway which is facilited by savety fencing and lightings so it is not dark and slippery. A fascinating view in the cave with an indentation of rock is like a carving masterpiece. The colorful glow of lights adds charm to the interior of the cave. No wonder if gong cave is considered to be the most beautiful cave in the Southeast Asia. Another uniqueness of gong cave is the parts of the cave has their own name. The names of stalactites and stalagmites are Selo Giri, Selo Citro Cipto Agung, Selo Pakuan Bomo, Selo Adi Citro Buwono, Selo Bantaran Angin dan Selo Susuh Angin. Moreover, the names of springs are spring Jampi Rogo, spring Panguripan, spring Relung Jiwo, spring Kamulyan, and spring Relung Nisto. According to locals, those springs are believed to have magical powers in order to cure the disease. One of the rooms of gong cave is named Ruang Batu Gong (Gong Rock Room) where there is a rock that sounds like gong when it is struck.
