The waterfall drops over the edge of the Auyantepui mountain in the Canaima National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site in the Gran Sabana region of Bolvar State
History facts
Angel Falls was unknown to Venezuelans until the early 1930's
The waterfall was named after James Angel, a US aviator who was the first to fly over the falls in a plane.
