teacher$ I, unfortunately, made the choice to %uit and for the &ast 19 years ha'e wor(ed many different )o#s$ I ha'e wor(ed with children on a regular #asis throughout my adult life$ I am &atient, caring and forgi'ing* which are %ualities that should hel& me with #eing a s&ecial education teacher$ When I am around children I feel e+cited to #e ali'e$ The energy that they ha'e and the loo( they get when they learn something new is ama,ing$ I ha'e a lot of e+&erience with children from licensed daycare, elementary choir leader, girl scouts and #oy scouts leader, -./ leader, &iano teacher , and wor(ing at a school as a custodian and &ara.educator$ I lo'e children and am 'ery e+cited a#out finally achie'ing my dream of #eing a teacher$ I feel with my &ast e+&erience with children, I ha'e a good idea (nowing what to e+&ect as a teacher$ 0y e+&erience wor(ing in the classroom as a &ara.educator has allowed me to see what #eing a teacher is all a#out$ I (now that there are many difficult situations that a teacher has to deal with on a regular #asis, #ut I also (now that there are lots of good

times, too$ I am loo(ing forward to those great times and feel that I am &re&ared for the difficult ones$ I a#solutely lo'e wor(ing with s&ecial needs children$ I em#race the challenge and want to hel& figure out what that child needs to do in order for him to learn$ E'ery child learns differently and some children struggle more to learn than others$ I want to #e the one that can hel& figure out the conce&t that is needed to hel& those children to learn$ There is such a need for &eo&le to wor( with and teach s&ecial education$ Those children need a &atient, caring &erson to hel& them achie'e as much as they can$ I want to #e that &erson and ma(e a difference in a child1s learning e+&erience$ I ha'e had many great teachers while growing u&$ Those teachers made me feel lo'ed and hel&ed me grow into the &erson that I am today$ They ha'e encouraged me to go #ac( and get my degree to #e a teacher$ The s&ecial acti'ities, games to learn a certain conce&t, and the e+&eriments that we did are among my fa'orite memories$ I ho&e that I can ma(e learning fun for children once I am a teacher$ 0a(ing learning fun not only hel&s to learn that conce&t #ut ma(es it a memora#le time$ I ha'e lo'ed #eing a leader in all the 'olunteer acti'ities in my &ast$ Teaching children a#out the outdoors, how to ma(e a cam&fire, a new song, entomology, country line dancing, has #een a #last$ I ha'e &ersonally learned a lot of things that I would ne'er ha'e learned, if I would not ha'e #een a leader for the different acti'ities$

While wor(ing with other teachers as a &ara.educator, I made the decision to come #ac( to school and achie'e my dream of teaching$ 2ince I ha'e #een in college, I (now that I am doing the right thing in &ursuing my education$ I am so than(ful to #e here at the college and am e+cited to learn e'erything I can so that I can ma(e a difference in many children1s li'es$ Teaching children is a 'ery s&ecial )o#, and I can1t wait to #e a &art of their educational e+&eriences$
