My Map
In order to reach my target I should do the following steps using the given pyramid.

3. Write
your insights on teaching and learning.

2. Observe a class.

1. Write your ideas on teaching and learning.

My Tools
For this episode, I will use the activity from given below. Interview a teacher. Ask if they perform these series of actions in the teaching process.

P L A N
I M P L E M E N T E V A L U A T E

Includes decisions about: needs of the learners goals and objectives to meet the needs selection of the content to be taught strategies that are suited to carry out the goals/objectives the evaluation process to measure learning outcomes.

requires the teacher to implement what has been planned. based on the objectives, implementation means to put into action the different activities in order to achieve the goals through the subject matter.

a match of the objectives with the learning outcomes will be made. the kind of information should be determined so that the type of evaluation should be chosen to fit the purpose. it will answer the question if the plans and implementation has been succesfully achieved.

Observe a class, record the situations where these behavioral learning theories are applied in real classroom work.

Behavioral Learning Theories emphasize observable behavior such as new skills, knowledge or attitudes which can be demonstrated.

Behavioral learning focused on the behavioral development of the students. This will help the teacher to examine the learners behavior for the certain activity. The most basic among the activity that I observed is the group activity in which students has to accomplish task together with his group mates. This activity is very helpful since students will not only develop their cognitive but as well as their social skills and can improve the way they interact with other people.

Cognitive Learning Theories unobservable mental processes are used to learn and remember new information or acquire skills.

As the word cognitive indicates this learning theory focused on the development of the knowledge of the students. Some of the activities that I observed under this theory are quizzes, recitation, exams, written assignments, and projects. This are activities in which a teacher can measure what the students has learned and what are the lesson that needs to be more emphasize.

Discovery Learning individual learns from his discovery of the environment.

Discovery learning is learning by doing. In the English class that I am observing this not commonly exercised but in subjects like science where experiments can be conducted this is widely used. Discovery learning can also be trough the students fieldtrip. Through fieldtrip students can discover more about the outside environment which can affect or change the way they view things. In our cooperating school, there are some activities like camping, outside the school seminars, outdoor competitions that can help students develop themselves more.

Reception Learning learners are actively involved in their own learning.

Reception learning is provides activities that focused on the needs or the capacity to do such thing. It is also based on the learners skills and abilities. This is seen during individual and group performances like for example in the class that I am observing the students make their journals everyday and it is where they right their reflections and insight for the day. Another example is that they have a research paper in which they are given the topic and they have to make a thorough research about it. Another activity is when the students are asked to do essays and written exams. This is also manifested through group activities like group singing, role playing and other collaborative activities.

My Analysis
1. Explain why teaching and learning give life and meaning to the curriculum.

Teaching and learning are connected to each other. One process cannot succeed without the success or support of the other. Learning outcomes can indicate teaching performance. The quality of teaching is related to the quality of the learning. A teacher cannot claim she has taught if the learners have not learned substantially. If the students fail to learn, the great factor is the failure in teaching. Teaching and learning give life and meaning to the curriculum. Each complement and supplement each other. The value placed in teaching will have the same value in learning, thus a good curriculum can be judged by the kind of teaching and quality of learning.

2. Discuss why the deluge of information poses a great challenge to both

teaching and learning.

With the deluge of information, the curriculum seems to be overloaded: too many subjects to cover, too many topics to teach. Sometimes due to time constraint the curriculum is fragmented. Unfortunately the learners needs are not properly sustained. Not all students are fast learners, how can those students who dont learn that fast be able to cope up with speedy and vast lessons? With vast of new information its hard to know what should be included in the curriculum to effectively carry out its objective. Its hard to compress all the information with the limited time period and if we push to do so this may only lead to rottened knowledge or learning which is not meant to last a long time.

My Reflections/ My Insights
I LIKE TEACHING BECAUSE... More than anything else I like teaching because I also love to learn. I eventually love the feeling of learning new things and imparting the knowledge to other people. I want to live a life of service to others, especially children. I want to nurture them and be the person that lifts them up. I want them to feel like they could fly if they put their mind to it. I want to show them the beauty, power and courage inside them, even if they don't always see it in themselves. I want my classroom to be an exciting adventure land but also a safe haven all at once. I want children to leave my class with more confidence, compassion, and enthusiasm for life and learning than they entered it. I will teach them the skills they need to know to succeed academically, and the skills they will need to love themselves and others. My choice to become a teacher was not made lightly. This decision was a

culmination of a process of reflection about what I wanted to do with my life. I have chosen a career in education because I believe that it is one of the most important functions performed in our culture. I believe that teachers individually and collectively have the ability to not only change the world, but to improve it. Within the process of teaching, I hope to find both personal and professional renewal. I want to be a part of a noble profession with the hope of one day being counted among those in whom future teachers find inspiration. Many of the great teachers that I have had throughout my education have become my heroes and role models. I began to understand in high school and college that great teachers have skills that I wanted to learn. I want to follow their examples. I remember that great teachers were good at explaining content, were patient yet firm with students, were always fair, set high expectations, knew how to motivate, and used humor appropriately. They were great communicators who had a command of their subject This is the type of teacher that I intend to become. However, I matter content.

understand that my personal teaching style will evolve as I draw on my own strengths, knowledge, skills, values, and experiences. I want children to learn in a safe and comfortable environment so that their selfesteem will be increased. A high self-esteem will enable them to strive for and accomplish any goals they set for themselves. As a teacher, I will play a part in helping them to do that. I will have the privilege of shaping future parents and productive members of society. For all of these reasons, I ask myself, what better job could there be. My answer is none because teaching is more than a job. It is an important contribution I can make to better our society, and I am excited about the opportunity to do so.
