The timescale is the calendar heading that appears above the Bar chart. You can control
the timescale from the Timescale dialog box, or by clicking directly on the timescale.
Changing the timescale density only affects the amount of information displayed on the
Bar chart; it does not affect the schedule or activity durations.

You can set up the general appearance of the timescale from the Timescale dialog box
when you start planning your project. Then, after you enter project data, you can adjust
the timescale directly on the Bar chart.

To set up the timescale using the Timescale dialog box

1Choose Format, Timescale or double-click anywhere in the top two rows of the

timescale.

2Click the button to the left of the Begin Date field and select a date type.

3Right-click in the Begin Date field and select a date when the timescale should begin
from the pop-up calendar.

4Click the button to the left of the End Date field and select a date type.

Mark to format the timescale to
match a fiscal year then specify the
start month for the year.

Drag the scroll bar to the left to
compress the timescale density; drag it
to the right to expand it.

Choose to show ordinal dates
(such as Day 1 or Month 1)
instead of calendar dates.

Specify the smallest time
increment to show on the
timescale. SureTrak divides the
bottom row of the timescale into
increments of this size.

5Right-click in the End Date field and select a date when the timescale should end
from the pop-up calendar.

6Right-click in the Font field and select a font.

7Click OK.

If you drag the timescale density scroll bar in the Timescale dialog box to adjust
the timescale and click OK, when you reopen the Timescale dialog box, the scroll
bar automatically sets itself back to the middle of the bar.

Setting the timescale on the Bar chart You can also adjust the timescale while viewing
the Bar chart, so that you can see the effects on bars and visible timespan immediately.
Click the bottom row of the timescale and drag the mouse to the left to compress or to the
right to expand timescale density.

To change the time interval directly on the timescale Double-click the left mouse
button on the bottom row of the timescale to change the interval from years to months to
weeks to days to hours. Double-click the right mouse button on the bottom row of the
timescale to change the interval from hours to days to weeks to months to years.
