Connections (prior learning/prior knowledge): Students determined meanings of Tier Three specialized vocabulary words pertaining to court systems. Students analyze a chapter on First Amendment Rights and used their knowledge to analyze and evaluate landmark Supreme Court cases. Have the class figure out how to divide into two groups, one supporting the students, one supporting the school district, based on their arguments. Each group will put their arguments in a logical order, and develop those arguments in order to make a strong case for their side.
