PRESS BRIEFING

DATE: 24th January 2014

An Open Letter to President Uhuru Kenyatta on Corruption, Insecurity, and the Rising Cost of Living
You are cordially invited to a press conference at 1100hrs, this coming Sunday 26, January 2014, at Ni Sisi! Offices, #41 Othaya Road ,off Gitanga Road, Kileleshwa. This event has been called by Prof. PLO Lumumba (former head of the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission), Tom J. Mboya (a leading governance specialist) and John Githongo (former Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President for Governance and Ethics). The conference will dwell on an open letter to H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta penned by the three concerned Kenyans. It shall focus in on three urgent issues that are the cause of not only deep anxiety by many Kenyans but which if unaddressed will undermine public faith in the Government, its key institutions and leadership. These are spiraling corruption, insecurity and the cost of living facing, especially the poorest in out society. Unaddressed, these three combined have the potential to stymie ambitious plans for the economy; deepen ethnic cleavages in our politics; and undermine social cohesion. The urgency of dealing with them, therefore, cannot be overrated. Signed,

Prof. P.L.O LUMUMBA

TOM J. MBOYA

JOHN GITHONGO
