Straighten teeth

Place sealants or whitening agents on teeth


Examine x rays of teeth, gums, the jaw, and nearby areas for problems

JOB SUMMARY OF AN ORTHODONTIST


The most common part of becoming an Orthodontists is

dealing with a patients teeth. Orthodontists straighten their


patients' teeth and jaws by applying pressure with braces, retainers, and other devices. They provide treatment for

both cosmetic and functional reasons.

COMMON SKILLS NEEDED TO BECOME AN ORTHODONTISTS


Communication skills. Dentists must have excellent communication skills.

Detail oriented. Dentists must be detail oriented so patients receive appropriate treatments and medications. They must also pay attention to space, shape, and color.
Dexterity. Dentists must be good at working with their hands. Leadership skills. Most dentists work in their own practice. This requires them to manage and lead a staff. Organizational skills. Strong organizational skills, including keeping accurate records of patient care, are critical in both medical and business settings.

Patience. Children and patients with a fear of dental work may require a lot of patience.
Problem-solving skills. Dentists need strong problem-solving skills. They must evaluate patients symptoms and choose the appropriate treatments.

ORTHODONTISTS DEGREES & YEARS STUDY NEEDED


The degrees one can obtain as an Orthodontist are:
Bachelors Degree( In Science or Pre-Dental)

Then your expected to get accepted into a Dental School and actually start your study of dental for an additional 4 years.
Coursework in dental school includes anatomy, physiology and microbiology, as well as classes that apply more specifically to

orthodontics, such as dental anatomy and occlusion, pediatric dentistry and dental materials. Dental students learn in traditional
classroom settings but are also required to gain practical experience treating patients in clinics during their last two years of study.
