Website: mstexeirastuff.weebly.com You will find helpful information here. Course Description: Biology is the study of living things and their processes. Each quarter students will have the opportunity to develop their scientific process skills and understanding of the fundamental principles of living organisms. Students will explore biological science as a process, cell structure and function, genetics and heredity, evolution and classification, diversity of living organisms and their ecological roles. An end of Semester Test will be administered in December and in May. Objectives: Teach students practical scientific skills, which they can use in their projects. Give students a deeper understanding of how biology impacts their daily lives, and their research projects. For each student to achieve the Biological Science Standards of HCPS III To encourage and promote the spirit of scientific investigation. Biology classes will meet on Mondays Group 1 will meet from 10:30 to 12:00 Group 2 will meet from 12:30 to 2:00 Assignments and Homework will be given each week and will be due by the next Monday of Class. (If Monday is a holiday, then assignment is due by Tuesday.) All Assignments must be typed up and handed in by hand no email submissions will be accepted. Grading: Grades will consist of: 40% Biology Project 40% Research Project Grade 10% Quizzes / Tests 10% Reading Assignments On all Biology Group projects, students receive individual grades, NOT a group grade. The expectation is that students participate fully and equally on their group projects

Supplies: 3-Ring Binder to keep graded assignments organized Folder or composition notebook for notes Pen or pencil Class Policies: Lateness to class with, with no excuse will affect your ability to receive full credit for the weeks assignment. Missed class with no excuse will result in no grade for the week. Late Homework Your score will be decreased by 30%. You will have one week from the due date to turn in your work. After 2-weeks homework or assignments will not be accepted. Cheating / Plagiarism: Cheating on a test or assignment will result in a grade of zero for all involved. Data for Lab Reports must be taken during the lab. Copying of lab data after the lab is not allowed. Each student is responsible for individual lab reports unless specified by the teacher. Classroom Expectations: Arrive on time and ready to work. Be prepared for class with materials such as pencil, pen, paper or notebooks. Assignments must be turned in by 9:00 am by the due date. Eating and drinking during class is not allowed Classroom area must be cleaned at the end of class, and equipment returned to the proper places.
