Uninduced: X-gal
No colour change seen No inducer (IPTG) which means transcription of structural genes did no take place

Induced: X-gal+IPTG
No B-galactosidase activity seen because there was no colour change (blue) Implies lac Z- which produces nonfunctional B-galactosidase that can not cleave blue colour
