Miss Pearces Classroom: Statement of Purpose Our classroom is a safe, positive learning environment, which promotes cooperation, creativity,

community, and academic success. All students will be active participants in our safe and open environment, which will help them gain the most success possible.

Our Classroom Rules Rule 1: Raise your hand if you have a question. Rule 2: Keep your hands and feet to yourself. Rule 3: Listen when the teacher or others are talking. Rule 4: Follow directions quickly. Rule 5: Respect yourself. Respect others. Respect our school. Our Classroom Procedures: Procedure 1: Arrival Procedure Walk into the room quietly. Put your materials and books into your desk. Make sure your backpack, coat, etc. are in your locker. Turn in all of your homework. Make sure you have two sharpened pencils ready to go. Check the bell work on the board and complete it. If you finish early, view the What Do I Do Next? poster and choose one. Be in your seat when the bell rings.

Procedure 2: Homework Procedure Get out your homework from your take home folder at your desk. Place your homework in the homework basket.

Procedure 3: Lining Up Procedure Hands are at your side and to yourself. You are standing quietly. You are facing forward.

Procedure 4: Hallway Procedure Hands remain by your side and you are always facing forward. Stay in your place in line. Always walk in the hallways; no running. Be quiet and respectful.

Procedure 5: Dismissal Procedure Make sure all homework is in your take home folder. Write your assignments down in your planner. Get your backpack, coat, and any other items from your locker. Sit quietly in your seat to be dismissed.

Procedure 6: Tardy Procedure Quietly walk into the classroom. Hand your pass from the office to me or on my desk if I have begun teaching. Complete the other arrival procedures quietly. Join class and begin working on the task.

Procedure 7: Absence Procedure Check your mailbox for work that you have missed. Put your missed work into your take home folder. You will have the amount of days you were absent plus one more to make up your work. If you missed a test, you also have the amount of days you were absent plus one to make it up. If you do not complete a missed assignment within the time frame given to you, you will lose 10% each day it is late.

Help crisis student re-establish self-control (if behavioral) or monitor student (if medical). Bring students back to class once control is reestablished. Notify parents of the incident and fill out proper paperwork.

Our Action Plan Develop: What? Provide a substitute teacher folder. How? Create a folder with all necessary information to implement behavior plan. Enlarge rules sheet to poster size. Select key procedures for first day of school and enlarge them. Print out postcards so that only student names and positive behaviors need to be added. Design certificate.
