part of society in the world today. It may be more than just part of our world it may ha!e such an impact that it is causing population to grow. Coal the first disco!ered were the first means of mass energy in the world. Coal was used to run factories during the Industrial "e!olution and also was used to fuel most locomoti!es in the earlier years for transportation of goods and other products. #he second disco!ered was natural gas. #his plays as a huge roll in todays world as it is used to fuel !ehicles as well as heat and gi!e electricity to a home. #he third fossil fuel to come into play was petroleum. #he word petroleum pertains to any type of oil. #he first use was used as $crude oil$. #his was used to oil machinery and was also used as kerosene for lamps. #he three fossil fuels ha!e contributed and helped build the world around us. It also plays into the population growth and tremendous increase that has taken place throughout the world. Fossil fuels were introduced into the world long before they became a large part of the energy source. %eat coal that isn&t fully de!eloped was disco!ered by ca!emen and used to gi!e off heat. 'ater in ()*+ coal was disco!ered as another source for energy. ,lthough coal had been disco!ered it was not commercially mined until the (*-.&s in Virginia. Coal was not used as an energy pro!ider until the Industrial "e!olution. Coal can be used as a way for energy because it contains chemical energy. ,s coal begins to burn the chemical energy that is stored inside change to light and heat energy. ,s industries grew so did the demand in energy as to run the factories. ,lthough coal was disco!ered in the year ()*+ it is still considered to be a fairly new source of energy to the planet as it was just o!er (.. years ago that it began being used in mass amounts. Coal has helped to run factories train engines and e!en burn for heat. It has been replacced mostly by other newer resources but acts as the first disco!ered and used of the fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are used in the world as a way to produce energy. /atural gas is the second eldest of the three main fossil fuels. /atural gas was disco!ered in the year (02(. /atural gas is often used as energy source for heat cooking and electricity. It can also be used to fuel !ehicles and is found in some of the manufacturing of certain plastics. ,lthough this is found in the ground it does consist of some impurities that must be taken out before natural gas can be put on the market. #he impurities found in natural gas can include something as little as water. /atural gas contributes the use of electricity and gas in !ehiciles but it was o!er (.. years after the disco!ery that it could be used in mass the way that it is today. /atural gas use increased by (1 in 2.(+ due to the rise in population making there a higher demand for gas. ,fter the disco!ery it was hard for the transportation and there were no means as to how to take and contain the gas therefore most of it was lost or went to waste. 2ue to higher demand and a rise in technology gas is transported with little problems and few impurities. Fossil fuels ha!e changed the world to a much more energi3ed place. %etroleum

being the last disco!ered fossil fuel as it wasn&t disco!ered until (045. #he word petroleum pertains to all types of oil. %etroleum builds many things that are used in the e!eryday world. 6ome of what petroleum can create may not be noticed. %etroleum is used in bicycle tires cassettes nail polish golf bags hair coloring umbrellas shampoo antifree3e motor oil C2&s and 2V2&s bandages petroleum jelly and e!en toothpaste. #here are different ways people may use petroleum on a daily basis. 7ne e8ample is if a person has e8tremely dry hands it is recommended to use a decent amount of petroleum jelly with glo!es and sleep with it. #his will moisten them and make them smooth. #herefore petroleum isn&t just used as an energy source but it is also used in e!eryday items. %etroleum may ha!e been the last disco!ered but is used in most e!eryday items and has brought technology to a higher le!el. Fossil fuels and population are beginning to show that they may be working together. #he more that fossil fuels are used the higher the population is growing. #he population began to grow the most rapidly during the Industrial "e!olution. 2uring the Industrial "e!olution coal had began being mass produced. 2ue to the mass amount of coal more energy was able to be made. #he world now had more energy which in turn needed more human producti!ity. If human producti!ity was in demand the more humans there were to make it possible. %opulation growth in the world is connected to the growing of fossil fuels. 9a!ing fossil fuels around guarentees electricity heat and a way to fuel a !ehicle. If a family were ready to ha!e a baby they would ha!e no worries because fossil fuel is always open to those in need of it. ,lso the higher the population the more the demand and consumption. ,s humans consume more goods more ha!e to be produced. It&s a cycle. :ore humans are brought into this world therefore more need jobs making more goods for what is demanded and consumed leading to more humans. ,s population increases so does the use of fossil fuels and the easier getting fossil fuels becomes. %opulation growth means that more energy must be produced but also the energy causes the demand for more energy. #he a!ailability of energy makes the population of the world grow. Fossil fuels ha!e been the main source of energy for appro8imately (.. years. Fossil fuels are considered to be unrenewable because it takes such a long period of time for them to be produced more than a lifetime. #herefore other sources of energy are being found and brought to use. ;ith the e8tra energy being produced comes more humans and population growth. #he easier it is to recei!e energy the higher the population grows. In conclusion fossil fuel and population growth are related !ery closly. In this world today it is estimated that there are *.( billion people. ;ith that being said fossil fuels are beginning to get to used up as they are so easy to get to. Being that the fossil fuels are used in such large mass it is putting an impact on the economy of the world. %ollution and global warming ha!e became a huge scare the world today. ,s fossil fuels are being used more the earth is slowly coming apart. #here are now e8plorers searching for new ways of energy. 6omething safer that doesn&t pollute the air and still allows energy to the people. %opulation may continue to grow but the world will continue to become dangerous if precautious steps aren&t taken to cleaner safer energy sources.
