A frogs escape

Waikato New Zealand 2014

Frogs pop up all over the place at our house. In the seedlings...

In the old water bowl...

In the little rockery out the front...

And in the plastic bins I collect rainwater in (for the seedlings).

But I worry the frogs will get stuck in the bin when the waters low.

So I put in a wooden stake in case they ever need an escape route.

This plastic sure is slippery

Sure enough, this little froggie used the stake to get up, up ...

... and away.

Phew!

THE END

These are Bell frogs which were imported to New Zealand from Tasmania in the 1800s. They do quite well here but are in decline in their native Australia and frogs in general are under threat around the world. Meanwhile our native frogs in NZ are endangered. Support frog research today!
