Trimester 2 Reflection Writing: 1.

Grading the Steroids Outline: Ideas and Development: I would give myself a 4 in this category because each idea in the outline is back up with multiple pieces of evidence, and cited appropriately. The outline is written with insight by showing the situation of the people in the world. It also shows a clear understanding of everything because I go into detail with every point. Organization: I would give myself a 5 for organization because there is a structured outline clearly stating the beginning, middle, and end. Each claim is supported by evidence and a clear explanation. Everything is fully explained, with counterexamples and using the audiences knowledge and concerns. Language Use: I would give myself a 4.5 because I use appropriate words throughout the essay, but I think I could have gone a little bit farther and pushed myself to extend my vocabulary. I do think I do a good job of trying to invoke the reader into my topic. Voice and Grammar: I would give myself a 5 because the spelling, grammar, and punctuation are very good, and the paper is sincere and completely honest. I think I do a good job of compelling the reader into my essay. 2. My strengths as a writer are I am an organized person which I think carries over into my writing. I like to make sure my paper is perfectly structured. I would say my weaknesses as a writer would be my vocabulary and tending to repeat myself. 3. I have seen great improvement in my writing throughout the year. I think I do a better job of trying to capture my readers attention and being more persuasive. Another thing I have improved on is using ethos, pathos, and logos. I think the most valuable writing skill is being able to connect with your audience/ writers for them to get an understanding of you. You can do this by using pathos and ethos. Reading: 1. Three essential keys for effective reading are; re-reading, taking notes, and analyzing the text. The most important step is analyzing the text because in order to understand what you are reading you have to know what the author is trying to say. 2. I made these choices because my mom had read each one and suggested that I read them and it turned out they are some of my favorite books. I challenged myself greatly because I normally read about three books a try and these book are about 400 pages long each. 3. I would rate myself as a pretty good reader. My reading habit is starting to go to fast and not slowing down to know what I am reading. I need to work on exploring new genres.
