Billy Saulle Final Assessment Paper Before taking Science 424, I always wondered how I would teach Science.

Because Science is ery different than many other su!"ects, I knew teaching it would !e a little different as well. After taking this class, I learned so much that I can#t wait to share in my future classroom with my students in the ne$t few years. I personally really en"oyed this class mainly !ecause it was ery hands%on. & ery e$periment we did, and e ery assignment we had re'uired some sort of hands%on component to it which really helped me understand what needed to !e taught. I feel comforta!le that I can go into my classroom and replicate these e$periments !ecause the way they were taught to me. (c)en*ie has a ery uni'ue way of teaching Science as well. If I am curious a!out something, I would ask him and he would then ask me 'uestions to think critically. I really like this, !ecause it really made me wonder a!out the Science !ehind the 'uestions I was asking. For me personally, I think I#m going to teach a lot like how Professor (cken*ie taught class. +e was eccentric, fun, and he really made sure we as a class understood the material without !eing confused. I know when I#m in my classroom in the future, I will !e !ringing my students outside, and doing as many hands%on acti ities as possi!le. I want my students to en"oy Science, and I think they will !y going out and e$perimenting for me !efore actually lecturing information to them. I want them to e$perience it !eforehand. I

also want to do e$periments e ery day, especially discrepant e ents. I want my students to en"oy what they#re learning. At the same time I will make sure the e$periments pertain to an S-. they will need to know for the test. I will gi e out as little worksheets as possi!le, !ecause I personally think that#s not a good way to differentiate the classroom. /here will !e different sheets I will ha e a aila!le for students to work on for !usy work while another group finishes an e$periment, !ut I don#t think it#s fair to gi e out worksheets e ery single day. Also, I want to keep my classroom focused so I will !e ha ing a lot of open ended discussions, de!ates, and partner !ased work. I will try to incorporate this e ery single day in my Science classes. (ath is honestly a !ig part of Science, and I know that it will !e incorporated some way. I want to make this as hands on as possi!le as well !y pro iding manipulati es for my students so they ha e an opportunity to learn math while doing Science. /his will come across when I teach density, mass, weather, olume and the list really goes on. I see myself !eing ery successful, and I learned a lot a!out myself as a future teacher from taking this Science class. I ha e a new way of looking at Science, and I know I will !e a!le to keep all of my students engaged.
