The story behind the Cajoneros

Cajoneros Alejandro Gonzlez and Jorge Barrachina, both musicians and artisan carpenters started up their Cajon manufacturing venture on the outskirts of Barcelona in 2004. Inspired by a love of music and a passion for artistry they decided to build the ultimate Cajon! With the invaluable help of designer Pedro Rodiguez they set off to create not only a selection of colourful instruments, inspired by the cultural and artistic movement of Barcelona, they also achieved the perfect balance between sound, aesthetics and durability with a universal model. Their philosophy of producing the best quickly earned them a reputation amongst the dominant gures of the amenco scene. But this was only the beginning. They have seen their instruments used in almost every music style and broadened the PRK family of musicians. So, it is without doubt, that today PRK are acknowledged as being the unparalleled leaders in their eld.

The Materials:
For a universal model 1 Cedar wood reinforcements: This high-density wood provides
additional reinforcement and excellent structural stability.

2 Conical string holes: The widened angle enables extended string life. 3 Antioxidant screws: Because sweaty hands make rust. Superior birch wood: The body is made of marine plywood, with
a similar process used in the yachting industry. As a result the specially treated birch provides an excellent surface hardness and is moisture resistant.

Birch front panel: An uncommon system using 3 layers of marine plywood at 1mm each, provides the perfect exibility and precision whilst offering a comfortable playing surface that is easy on the hands. 4 Strings: The resonator strings have been designed by PRK and are built
exclusively for them. The specic string positioning ensures a clear separation between treble and bass sounds, creating a beautiful depth and a lush frequency response.

5 Ergonomic felt feet: The feet of the Cajon are made of high density felt
in differing heights front and rear to tilt the Cajon at an ergonomic angle to enable a more comfortable playing posture.

The construction:
Hand made by artisans All instruments are exclusively hand made by expert artisans Alejandro Gonzlez and Jorge Barrachina from their base in Barcelona. Each individual piece of the Cajon, inside and out, is carefully hand polished to provide extra denition, clarity and intensity of sound. Perfectly shaped lines to achieve superb looks and exquisite sonic harmony.

The PRK congas

The body is built with the same woods and construction principles as the Cajon. Light weight and easy to carry. Like the Cajon, they can be custom nished to create your own personalised set.

The PRK bongos

Bongos on one side and a mini conga on the ipside. Like the Cajons, they can be custom nished.

Furthermore, as part of their eco friendly policy, every instrument comes with a small box of seeds so you can plant new trees and do your own bit for the environment.

For additional peace of mind, each instrument receives a certied seal of approval with its own allocated serial number. This is only achieved after undergoing a ne-tuning phase and strict quality control process.
