Separation Techniques!
Unit Overview! Tap water is more than just water. It is a mixture of pure water and a variety of other substances, such as chloride, uoride, and metallic ions. Gases, such as oxygen and carbon dioxide, are also dissolved in tap water. The dissolved substances give tap water its taste. Tap water is one example of a mixture called solution. Mixtures can be solids or gases. Not all mixtures are solutions. Colloids and suspensions are mixtures. A mixture can be homogeneous or heterogeneous. Since substances in a mixture keep their properties, we can separate mixture into its parts by using different methods such as distillation, evaporation, ltration, magnetic attraction and chromatography.!
