I am pleased to be writing a letter of recommendation for Brianna Rattray. Brianna completed a practicum placement with me during the first semester of the 2013-2014 school year. She spent five weeks observing, assisting, and teaching in two sections of my grade eleven university biology classes.
Brianna had a very successful first teaching placement. During her time at our school, she displayed many fine personal and professional qualities. Brianna had a positive rapport with both students and staff at the school. This was evident in the classroom, as well as in her participation in an extracurricular activity, where she served as an assistant coach on a school volleyball team. She took a genuine interest in the students, and worked to better understanding the wide variety of different leamers in her classes. She was highly motivated and enthusiastic during her placement, as noted in her eagerness to assume teaching responsibilities in the classroom. She consistently sought and responded to suggestions, self-reflected on her lessons, and experimented with new teaching strategies. She developed effective evaluation tools for the students, and quickly provided positive and detailed feedback to students. Brianna's knowledge of course material was excellent, and she was easily able to present the course material in a way that garnered student interest and helped students make connections to their own lives and background knowledge. She carried herself in a confident manner in the classroom, and through her effective planning, was always well-prepared for class.

In my opinion, as a classroom teacher for over twelve yea$, Brianna Rattray is an excellent candidate for your school. She demonstrates initiative, enthusiasm, a desire to continue to learn, and the reflective practice necessary to continually grow in her skill as a teacher. Her thorough understanding of the subject coupled with her effective teaching strategies would make her an excellent teacher. I am confident that Brianna will be an excellent addition to your teaching staff, and will be a positive contributor to the entire school community.
