Creating a Large Canvas Slide for Poster / Presentation 1) Open PowerPoint 2) Change the Default Canvas to a Blank Canvas

a. Layout drop down (in PowerPoint 2007) or Format>Slide Layout (in PowerPoint 2003 and Mac versions) b. Choose the Blank slide layout 3) Change the Canvas Size a. Design Tab, then Page Setup (in PowerPoint 2007) or File>Page Setup (in PowerPoint 2003 and Mac versions) i. Change Slides sized for to Custom ii. Change the width and height values iii. Click OK to apply changes to the Canvas

iv. Special Note about Sizing the Canvas: Although the Wide Format Printer (WFP) takes paper up to 42 inches wide, the printer itself will only print on about 40 inches of the paper. (The WFP does not print edge to edge.) 4) Make judicious use of white space especially on the borders when working toward the limit of the printer width. It is easier to trim away excess paper than having a presentation that looks crowded because of the lack of white space.
