Listening Activity Bingo

(w/Content Connections)

Purpose: Phonological Development Focus: Auditory comprehension of vocabulary from the lesson ELDC (Continuum) Level(s): Beginning, Low Intermediate 1, Low Intermediate 2, High Intermediate 1, High Intermediate 2, High Intermediate 3, Proficient 1, Proficient 2 Procedure: Choose vocabulary words or phrases from the lesson summary list or from students' classroom texts. Give each team a blank Bingo card. Each team writes vocabulary words/text phrases you provide on the board in the spaces of their choice. Randomly select sentences from the text and read them aloud. Teams mark their Bingo spaces when they hear the word or phrase.

Note: The Content Connections described below are intended to give ideas and/or suggestions for utilizing this activity in other subject areas. Content Connections Math: Follow procedures as team or individual participation. This can be adapted so the teacher provides math vocabulary for students to write on their Bingo cards. The teacher can also use answers to math problems that the students must solve by listening carefully as the problem is read aloud or by reading selected problems before they mark the Bingo card space. For additional rigor, the teacher explains the meaning of the word as students locate the vocabulary word. Science:
