Name: Jordan Hersom & Connor McLaughlin Date: 3-6-14 Time: Period C (9:09-9:56) Period D (10:00-10:48) School: Agawam High School Lesson #: 2 of 4 Facilities: Big Gymnasium (Agawam High School) Class Size: Period C= 20, Period D= 24 Grade: 9-12 Unit/Theme: Volleyball (serving) Generic Level: Utilization Equipment: 2 volleyball nets, 4-5 volleyballs from Agawam, bring 5-6 volleyballs from Springfield College Focus of Lesson: Volleyball Serving (underhand, and overhand) Student Performance Objectives (SPO): (NASPE #___; MA CF #___ ; Task/Activity #___)
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

(P)- Demonstrate serving the volleyball over the net by using the underhand and overhand serves with an 80% success rate while keeping the volleyball within the boundary lines (NASPE #1; MA CF 2.17; Activities 2-3). (C)- Identify the advantages and disadvantages of the overhand and underhand serve and how they can be used in different game like situations when asked by the teacher (NASPE #2; MA CF 2.17; Closure). (A)- Respect the teacher and all classmates 100% percent of the time, understanding that not all students are at the same skill level (NASPE #5; MA CF 2.26; Entire Lesson). Check each objective is it specific? Is it achievable? Is it developmentally appropriate? Teacher Performance Objectives During the lesson the teacher will: 1. Explain the rules and safety concerns of all activities 2. Make all activities developmentally appropriate for all students (extensions/modifications). 3. Give specific feedback to the students throughout the entire lesson (positive and corrective). 4. Have smooth transitions throughout the entire lesson (not a lot of management time). Special Considerations What are the safety concerns? What is unique about the students in this class? Be aware of surroundings including classmates, and equipment within the boundaries of the gymnasium to avoid collisions. Most of the students are probably have some knowledge or background with the game of volleyball, which will make it easier to teach the different serves.
